Narrator's POV

"Hey," Somin greeted as soon as Jongkook answered her call. She was on her bed after a warm shower. Her body was tired. Although she was used to long schedules, her physical state was opposite of her mental state.

A shower and a nap was all she needed at the moment. "Hey to you, too," Jongkook replied. He was watching a movie and had paused it when Somin called. His mood automatically became better. "What are you up to?" Somin asked. She closed her eyes, breathing slowly and tried her very best to stay awake.

"I'm just watching a movie," He paused. "You sound tired," Jongkook pointed out. Somin smiled at his sixth sense. "You're smart," She commented. Jongkook sighed, feeling bad.

"Go and sleep. I'll hang up," He pulled away his phone from his ear and was about to hang up the call until Somin yelped a 'no'. He placed his phone to his ear, once again. "I want to hear your voice," She confessed, feeling bold in a sleepy state.

His mouth twisted in a smile, his cheeks warming up. "Getting brave, aren't you, Somin?" Jongkook teased to calm his racing heart. Somin let out a small laugh. He only smiled wider. A few seconds of comfortable silence fell between them.

"Do you have a first love?" She suddenly threw out a question, leaving Jongkook flustered. He was unsure of what to say. Was he supposed to tell the truth or was this some sort of test?

"It's just a question, oppa. I'm cool with it. But you do not need to answer if you don't want to," She said, answering his thoughts. "Your voice makes me want to sleep. Maybe, you can tell me your story," She continued, her voice becoming softer.

Somin was feeling more sleepy when she pulled up her blanket and laid on her right side, hugging her pillow. She turned on the speaker and placed it right next to her. Jongkook hesitated.

"You sure?" He asked. "I'm sure," She confirmed. He waited a few seconds, letting all the memories rush back to his head. It was like a bitter phase he had forgotten but felt that it was nostalgic, when he remembered.

He cleared his throat before answering. "She was 24 years old and I was 26 years old. I was walking by while she was handing out flyers. I remember how the wind suddenly became strong and she had lost control of her grip on her flyers. Of course, I helped her," Jongkook paused and smiled at the memory.

Somin didn't say anything and just grinned at his story. "You know the cliché part. Her hand brushing against mine. My head accidentally bumping into hers when we crouched down. We made eye contact and just smiled to each other. I got her number. We went out for a few dates before going out seriously," He elaborated.

"She and I lasted about 5 years. We broke up because of lost feelings. The chemistry just wasn't there anymore, even after we talked it out. Eventually, we agreed to part ways and left on good terms. It was a healthy relationship," He ended at that.

For a few seconds, Somin didn't reply. He frowned, thinking she might be uncomfortable. "I don't want to sound like a person that gives up easily. I promise I will take care of you, with my whole heart. You know that, right, Somin?" Jongkook stated.

He waited as seconds passed by. He was just about to end the call and go to her house until he heard a light snore. His frown turned into a laugh. He let out a relieved sigh. "You must be really tired, huh?" He whispered to her, although she was asleep.

He stayed on call for a couple of minutes. "You did great today. Sleep well, beautiful," He said with a soft voice before hanging up the call. He smiled to himself, thinking of Somin and ran a hand over his face. His thoughts full of her.
