A silvery claw slipped out from beneath rubble made of rusted metal and pushed some of it away until another came out, pushing more of the scrap metal away until a figure could be seen between the pieces.
A rusted pole was potruding out of the armored chassis of a person, seeming to pierce them through their heart.. But they were alive and moving, although grunting in pain.
"Did Sanctus forget that there is a pole stabbed THROUGH MY HEART!?"
Nexus angrily asked himself. With more moans of pain and extreme determination, he pulled himself of the offending pole, falling to the ground out of pain and lack of support.
He thought he would die again right then and there but as he laid there, he could feel his insides healing rapidly and no blood was spilled.
Looking up, what he didn't expect to find, was a black sword with glowing cyan blue lines stuck in the dirt infront of him.
"Guess he did leave me a present, huh?" Nexus concluded.
He was amazed just at how strong it looked but when he glanced behind it, looking at his surroundings, Nexus couldn't believe what he saw.
He was still out on an empty, abandoned battlefield with bits and pieces of scrap metal littering the ground, along with a few dead soldiers from either faction. It's completely silent, devoid of the usual gunshots and war cries of a fight. No other living soldier was out there, he was all alone.
"For how long have I been dead..?" he wondered.
Pressing his claws against an earpiece on his almost black helmet, he attempted to contact his leader, Tronix, but all he got was static. His earpiece shouldn't be damaged so it must be something at base. Damn it, no easy pick up then, he has to walk.. Luckily the visor of his helmet can depict a map he could follow and with that he pulled the sword out of the ground and set it on his back like two magnets sticking together and started walking.
After walking for a few kilometers, his vitals reminded him that he needed to eat so he took that as an opportunity to rest for a while and get out some little cubes out of a compartment on his armour. These little cubes were one of his nice little inventions where one cube would equal to a whole meal. After sliding his metal mask back into two slots on each side of his helmet, he popped one into his mouth and enjoyed the synthetic flavor, before he continued on.
After two hours of walking and resting, Nexus finally arrived at a grandios, tall and dark building with interesting architecture, ment to seem intimidating although it's already pretty worn down, which just adds to the effect. But once again, everything seemed silent.
No fighters, no guards, no scouts.
He tried the huge double doors and got surprised when it opened. No one should get in that easily. The inside was just as bad as outside, if not, even creepier.
It seems to be abandoned just like the battlefield.
Equipment that seemed remotely important has either been removed or destroyed.
Walking around the halls gave him similar findings, having been stripped down to the bair minimum of useless wires and pipes.
He came upon the main room where battle strategies were planned and the base maintained. It was even bigger without all the equipment and after checking out the whole base, Nexus could make out that...They've left.
There was no leader to come back and report to, there were no soldiers to command, there was nothing to check on.
He was free.
Free of tronix's horrible leadership, of all the horrible work, of all the horrible killings he had to commit.Nexus was overjoyed that (at least for now) he didn't have to listen to constant commands.
For the time being he will be his own leader and the Oppressors old base will now be his own.
