The small team of Defenders were quietly sitting at the table in the main room, drinking crappy coffee, eating some vegetables as lunch, were calmly talking and not worrying about some war, when one of their monitors started beeping as their system apparently detected something.
Prax immediately went up to stop the alarm and check what it was, while the others stayed behind and watched with curiosity as everyone was too lazy to get up.
"So, what is it?" Iocus asked impatiently.
"Our system apparently detected some energy surge...near the north coast??" Prax questioned as he himself wasn't sure if this reading was correct. What kind of thing could produce so much energy that a measly little base, half way across Germany, could detect it!?
"Prax, could you identify what kind of energy surge it was and the general coordinates?" Asked Onyx from the table with a serious tone.
"Aye!" was all he answered before going to work.
"Man..the war just ended and there's allready new trouble?" Iocus complained.
"All problems won't just suddenly vanish just because the main problem is gone." Nexus reasoned and the others nodded in agreement.
"From what I could tell, the energy signature definitely isn't that of a weapon, but I can't make out what it could be either..but I was able to locate where exacly it came from. What should we do with this information, Onyx?" Prax interrupted.
"Pursue it. Once everyone is finished, gear up and report to the garage immediately. " the leader commanded.
Everyone saluted and went on with their lunch before quickly getting up to prepare themselves by packing food and water, some spare clothes, medkits, of course their weapons and some gasoline.
During the preparation, departure and whole drive, the team was excited and wondering about what this energy could be and what would meet them at the scene.
"Are we there yet?" asked Iocus in the backseat of one of the jeeps that held Onyx as the driver, Rax on the passenger seat and Nexus and Red in the back aswell.
"No." Nexus answered with a sharp and irritated noise for the eleventh Sanctus damn time.
"How long will it take until we're there?" was Iocus' next question.
"A while." was all Nexus said with an annoyed huff.
It only took a few minutes until Iocus opened his mouth again to the dismay of everyone but was fortunately quickly cut off by Nexus.
"Are we there y-"
"No!! No we're not, Iocus!! If you say that line one more time, I'll ram my sword so far up your ass that maybe something better will come out of your mouth for once!!" Nexus snapped at him, causing Red to laugh out loud, stunning Iocus and almost making Onyx lose control of the car at Nexus' sudden outburst.
"If both of you don't shut up right now, I'll sew both of you together, Human Centipede style!!" Rax warned the two while looking at them with the utmost grumpy look.
Both of them looked at him with surprise and slight fear as they knew that, if they kept going, Rax would do it. As the two behaved from now on and Red calmed down, the car suddenly stopped and everyone looked at Onyx in surprise and slight annoyance.
"Hey, why did you stop?" Iocus asked, slightly irritated.
"In the distance.." was all the leader cryptically said, making the other four look in the same direction and what they saw was absolutely incredible. Even the other car has stopped, probably so the others could gaze at it in wonder as well.
