Redemption in a war

Chapter 4: Fight

It has been a few weeks since Nexus joined the Defenders, gaining more and more trust from most of them.

During this time, he was still kept at base though, doing experiments with Dionus, training with Ionix, helping Rax in the medbay and avoiding Prax.

Nexus wasn't too bothered by it since he was still afraid of going face to face with his old leader but at the same time he was missing the action and was growing more and more bored everyday.

He didn't dare to ask Onyx though, as he didn't want to push his luck.

Today, all that would change though.

There was a knock on Nexus' door of his quarters.
"Are you awake, Nexus?" Onyx asked in a gentle, quiet voice but still loud enough to hear.

"Yup." came the tired response.

Onyx chuckled a little and continued.
"Please meet us in the main room, we've got something important to discuss."

"I'll be there shortly." Nexus promised.

He quickly got up and put on his armour, keeping the metal face mask away but still keeping the visor.

As he walked down the hall, towards the main room or war room, command center, it's got a few names, his thoughts were running with questions.

'Did I do something?'
'If yes, when and what?'
'Maybe I'm finally allowed to fight with them!'
'What if I mess it up..?'

Nexus finally arrived at the main room and upon entering, greeted everyone with a welcoming 'good morning'.

Everyone greeted back except for Prax of course, he just gave his usual glare.

Iocus was right, you would get used it.

The nicest interaction they had was both agreeing that the Opressors are horrible.

Anyway, he went to an empty chair at a big table where the team probably discussed the battle plans.

"So, finally allowed to fight with us?" Ionix asked.

"I guess so, can't say I'm not excited." he answered. Finally he can go out and fight!

"You told me how you feel about Tronix, still feel that way?" Dionus asked with concern.

'Sanctus bless his soul, how can he be so kind?' he thought.

"It's certainly gonna be..weird." Nexus awkwardly confessed.

Now most of the team looked at him in concern, Sanctus bless them all.

"Everyone, please pay attention, with Nexus' company the plan will be a bit changed," Onyx announced. Everyone now looked at him.
"Me, Ionix and Iocus will still be at the front line with Dionus and Prax flanking, Rax, Red and now Nexus aswell, will be our defense."

"Wait, Onyx, are you sure that Red is ready to go on a battlefield? Has he trained enough?" Prax questioned.

"ey, don't worry dude, I got this, Ionix did a great job in training me and he said I was pretty good! Tell him Ionix!" Red said.

Ionix just sighed.
"Yeah he's pretty good, you worry too much."

"I am positive that Red is trained enough to join us in battle, he has been doing so long enough." their leader assured.

Prax frowned at him.
"If you say so.."

"Anyway, as usual, the objective is to secure any amount of material they try to claim. It currently seems they are trying to specifically gather certain metals and even crystals."
