Redemption in a war

Chapter 11: Rescue Pt. 2

While Nexus entered the base, the rest of the team that consisted of Onyx, Rax, Ionix and Iocus, carefully approached the back of the Oppressors base, being careful not to be seen.

But there was a problem.

The huge garage door is closed and two soldiers were guarding the entrance on either side.

From this, they could also guess that there were more soldiers inside.

"So, how do we get inside?" Ionix whispered.

They were currently hiding behind a big rock so the soldiers couldn't see them.

"We could hijack a patrol car and pose as them by using their uniform. Once we're inside we'll try to take out as many Oppressors as we can." Rax suggested.

"That could work but we also have to be careful that no one alerts Tronix, so we have to be quick." Onyx agreed.

"But first, we need a patrol car." Iocus pointed out.

"We have to be far enough so the guards won't see us taking the car over." Ionix said to the team.

"Let's go the opposite direction for a while then until we find a car of them." Onyx ordered.

"But this is taking too long already.." Rax reminded.

"Yes, but this is the safest way to Infiltrate the base." Onyx argued back.

Convinced, the four went the direction they just went, hoping for a patrol car to come along.

They hid their own car well enough for no one else to find.

Luckily, after 10 minutes, a car that was not their own and rather that of the enemy, was seemingly returning to base.

Usually Prax or Nexus would snipe the enemy away but since both weren't there, Ionix took that role instead, propping himself up on a boulder with a scrappy sniper rifle and focusing on the driver.

A shot suddenly rang out, followed with a car window breaking and the car swerving off road, stopping before it could crash into anything.

This was the signal for the others to go out of hiding and ambush any survivors.

There was luckily only one soldier in the passenger seat who they quickly took out.

Rax and Iocus took the bit of armour that the Oppressors had on, which they use as a sort of uniform, since it doesn't cover their face and Onyx and Ionix are too recognizable.
The other two hid in the back of the car instead.

Rax resumed the drive towards the base which slowly revealed a trail that has been used for a couple of months now.

When they arrived at the big garage door, he stopped the car and waited, not knowing if he had to say anything or show them some type of ID.

Rax was starting to sweat, thinking they were caught but instead the gate simply opened up to let them inside.

These soldiers are truly as stupid as Nexus claimed.

Upon entering, both Rax and Iocus were surprised to find only two other soldiers, probably to relieve the previous two of their patrol.

The duo left the car while the other two remained hidden, walking silently towards the two Oppressors which caught them off guard, which is exactly what the others wanted.

Rax and Iocus quickly raised their blades, not giving the enemy any time to react and plunging it into their chests while covering the mouths so their screams wouldn't be heard.
