Forget what hurt you,
never forget what it taught you.
✮.✯*✮.✯*🌟*✯.✮*✯.✮It had been a week since Shimmer's rescue, and so far she had shown very little improvement. She was really sick and her strength simply wasn't returning. At times, her fever would go down for a few hours, a day at most before it would rise so suddenly it would be like nothing changed and we'd have to start all over again. When she was awake Amy would make Shimmer eat as much as she was able, hoping to improve her weight and give her strength back. The problem was, she simply wasn't eating as much as she should be, which was extremely worrying to all of us.
The other trainers were making sure that Shimmer was never left alone or went unwatched for long since Amy was saying Shimmer was too 'unstable' health wise and anything could happen. While we were taking care of Shimmer we'd been staying at Alyssa's home at the Skiddo ranch, the basement to be specific, which had been converted into two separate rooms and a small kitchen space by her parent's years ago. There were only two beds down here, one in each room, so Alyssa and Amy stayed up in Alyssa's bedroom while Nick and Thomas shared one of the spare rooms downstairs as everyone agreed that Shimmer would have the other room by herself since she was so weak, sick and needing to recover.
I was always by my trainer's side, watching her to make sure she was alright and ready to alert the others if Shimmer needed anything or got any worse. I was really worried for her. My trainer hardly spoke at all and she often woke up crying and more often than not, whimpered in her sleep.
Since I spent all my time in Shimmer's room, I still hadn't spoken with Dusk since our... Well, I guess you could call it a fight and whenever he came in by Thomas's side he wouldn't even look at me, not that I blamed him. I felt bad about the argument but I had to keep my promise, no matter what, I must keep Shimmer safe.
The sound of Shimmer stirring broke my concentration as I turned to face her, watching her eyes slowly open. As usual, her first glances around the room were fearful, like she'd been expecting to have woken somewhere else and I knew where she was fearing it would be, this had become normal for her. Her gaze eventually came to settle on me as I stood up, giving her a small but reassuring smile as I placed the flat of my tail against her forehead, her temperature had gone down since I'd last checked but it would most likely go back up in time. Though, I hoped it would stay down and she would finally begin to recover.
I gave her a small smile as she raised a shaky hand to stroke my fur, her soft blue eyes still shone with fear in the soft glow of the lamp. Her wrists bandaged up as the cuffs had cut deeply into her skin from a month of having gravity pull against her skin and Amy was worried about a possible infection.
"How are you feeling?" I asked softly, like Alice, Shimmer seemed to generally understand what I was saying. Actually, all the Dragon and Pixie born could, though not always to complete accuracy. They couldn't truly understand Pokémon like entities such as the Voice of Purity, they more felt what we said rather then heard it.
"It still hurts." She whimpered softly, squeezing her eyes shut for a few brief moments. "I want the hurt to leave."
I gave her a small nod, rubbing my cheek comfortingly against hers. "Can you get one of the others for me?" Shimmer croaked, her voice fading with exhaustion. Giving my trainer another nod, I jumped from the bed, first rousing Tiara and Wish, whom were sleeping at the edge of the bed so they could keep an eye on Shimmer before I left. They helped me watch over Shimmer during the day, or stayed awake when I needed to sleep.
Exiting through the open door, I made my way across the hall, pushing the boys' door open, since it was the closest room to Shimmer's and easiest form of help. I found Thomas reading a book in his bed, a blow up on resting on the floor. He looked up at me when he heard the slight creaking of the door. "Is Shimmer up?" The red eyed trainer questioned, sitting up straight.
