Brave, Honest & Beautiful

Jared

Being the one who wasn't really into parties, I had kind of been forced into chaperoning the guys because when it came to such things, they didn't know when enough was enough. And being Beta, that meant I got the terrible jobs.

Standing in a house such as one with a lot of expensive stuff, really had me out of my element. Where the boys and I, and Jessica are from, we were so used to being in little houses, that being in one as extravagant as this one. It was both a little unsettling, and a little marvelous. This home looked like it came from one of those fancy catalogs that only rich people read.

"Do you see Jess Jess anywhere?" Paul asked as he searched for her, even though his date was literally only ten feet away talking to her friends.

Paul and Jessie's friendship was something else I swear.

"No I haven't seen her," I cleared my throat. I looked around and tried to take in all the guests. They were dressed so sensual and attractive, and we were dressed like we were going on our very first dates. We looked pathetic, well they did because I just came in a tight fitting t-shirt and some dark colored jeans. I had no intention on staying long.

"I wonder what's taking her so long. Do you think she's coming?" He questioned again as he scanned the teenagers drinking, socializing, and dancing. He or I couldn't find her among any of them.

The way he acted when she wasn't around, made his tough-guy demeanor, look weak. But she was his best friend, they had been side by side since they were three. Longer than an of us.

"I'm pretty sure she'll be here," I reassured. I could be doing something absolutely different than babysitting right now, I knew that much. And at the right time, the guys showed up. Quil was moving in our direction once he spotted us, Jacob stalked in a different direction with the worst attitude displayed on his face. Embry and Seth ran directly for the food, go figure. "Hey man, what's going on?"

"Jake is having a heart attack over Jessie." He laughed as he nodded his head up in a greeting towards Paul. But it wasn't the greeting that grabbed Paul's attention, it had been the mentioning of Jessie.

"Why what's going on?" Paul asked.

"Oh just you wait and see, it might have given Jake a heart attack, but she's absolutely going to blow you away my friend." He stated while slapping his shoulder before he left to catch up with the others.

"Well this ought to be good." I sighed. Making a big deal out of Jessie had always been over exaggerated. Jessie was simple. There couldn't have been something dramatic going on with her when she wasn't a dramatic type of girl. She just wasn't, and I stood by that.

I mean come on, I was referring to a girl who wore a lot of grey, black, and dull colors. She sat in her room all day, draws, paints, but mostly she just watched old black and white horror films. When she was seen outside, she was with Paul, always. Jess was actually very antisocial if anyone took the time to think about it. The only thing that had been dramatic, would have been the whole ordeal about her and Jake breaking up, and the situation with Bella when it came to hitting Paul.

Other than that. I could only imagine how she looked for the party. Most likely she would have been dressed in an oversized sweater and some shorts that's stopped above the knee.

I loved the girl and all, but she was predictable.

"I'm just praying that she didn't do something godawful to her hair." Paul added. He crossed his arms and continued to look around, but made it less obvious at that time.
