Write On Me (Part One)

Jared had rushed to Paul's side immediately after he'd been struck. Paul was able to see him and make eye contact, but he had been unable to move. Paul's body might have been shaking, but so had been everything else.

Rain had been battering the wolf pack down, tears had been mixed in with the depressing atmosphere. Embry and Jared had been kneeling on the ground, crying, along with every one else. It had been the moment that the world stood still, it was the fact that Jessica had been gone. Her breathing had been ceased, her blood had been washed away, and the world around the group had been silent. What were they going to tell her mom and dad? How would anyone explain what Jessica was doing in the woods all alone?

Almost in a matter of moments, and silence from them all, the ground began to vibrate, and shortly after that everyone began to hear cracking. Right then and there Sam knew that he had to get out of there.

"Come on! Grab Paul and let's get the hell out of here!" Sam instructed harshly although his eyes had been bloodshot and focused on where the crease was, where his friend laid. He knew he was making a big mistake in leaving her behind, but knew he had to think of the safety of everyone else.

They all ran for the trees, somehow thinking that maybe that would save them from the earth separating. There had been a loud crash as they ran, and as soon the cracking and crashing ceased. Sam had stopped, and turned around as his heart fell into his stomach.

She stood there, not with very much strength. She swayed as if the wind was blowing at her, with very little force, making her look like she would fall over. By then, the rest had turned around to see what was going on, and they stood there, frozen, as if they were staring at a ghost. And technically, they were.

She glanced up once, hardly able to keep her head up, and she made eye contact with Jared first. She swayed, she shook, and no one was able to question anything. Just looking at her struck fear in every one of them.

"Help me," she muttered with a small plea as she went limp. Hitting the ground only seconds later. Seth and Jared ran as fast as they could. Seth laid a hand on her torso, the other hand on the small notch of her lower back. Jared had her head and neck in his arms. Rocking her little by little to keep her comfortable.

If only she had been awake a little longer to see how much those boys loved her. Their eyes red and their cheeks stained with tears and rain. She would have never known that they cared for her so deeply. Well, they always have, but the boys had lives of their own as well. They loved Jess with all of their hearts but she only noticed what she wanted when they weren't paying attention to her. She felt like she was in competition with girls who didn't stand a chance against her.

Seth noticed the black, visible veins in her hands, and lifting up her shirt just a bit, her whole body had been covered. And as Seth looked up to see Jared, he had already been wide eyed in horror at her face and neck. Her head fell sideways into his lap, jagged short breaths were then coming from her lips after ten minutes of no breathing.

"We need to get the Cullen's over here; someone haul ass and get them to meet us at the house!" Sam barked the order and it was Embry and Leah who raced all the way across the field jumping and somersaulting into their forms. Then they were gone, it was no playing matter. If Jess was back, after they already knew she had been gone, something was horribly wrong and it needed to be figured out. Black veins didn't just appear creepily onto anyone's skin like that. It confused Sam. But the questions had to be saved for later.

He raced with Paul in his arms, and Jared had Jessica in his. None of it made sense. Jessica was dead, they all felt their hearts sink, they heard her heart stop beating. They all felt a certain way when there was a death in the family, and she had been declared dead. It had something to do with the earth cracking, the storm, and the lightning that hit the both of them. Things like that didn't just happen.

The Cullen's were there as soon as they arrived. And there were no words spoken, the wolf boys entered the house, and the doctor had followed behind with his wife. The others stood outside despite the differences of the two worlds.

The pickup that had been given to Bella, pulled up and Jake jumped out of the car. The main reason had been for Paul, but stopped dead in his tracks when he caught Jessica's scent. That was when he nearly jumped to get to the front door. But it was Emmett and Jasper who were there to grasp a hold on him.

"Jessica! I have to see her!" He continued to shout and struggle. It was fair competition between the three of them but he knew well that the Cullen's weren't going to let him disturb their father when examining them both. "Let go of me!"

Jared had been there to get him to settle down. By the time he did. He looked at Quil who had obvious tear stained cheeks, and red eyes, and was wildly wondering what the hell happened to the girl he was crazy about.

"She-she.."

"What's wrong with her?!" Jacob asked. Face ready to break, his eyes swelled and three tears escaped and rolled down with little effort.

"Paul found her man, she was caught between two boulders, faced down in a pool of her own blood. It didn't look good until..." Embry explained. But his voice had gotten caught in his throat.

"What?!"

"Paul got struck by lightning, and so did she," Seth started. His arms were folded over his chest. Broken just like the rest of them. "We thought since she was gone we were just going to get Paul help. And come back for her when the storm passed. But then the ground started cracking, and by the time it stopped she was just standing there."

Jacob had become dumbfounded. Like he knew none of it made sense. But what else was he supposed to believe? It was raining, the weather was too crazy for her to be out there alone. So why in the hell was she out there!?

Then he remembered just was day it was...

It was Jessica's eighteenth birthday. Not that something magical was supposed to happen.

The door to Sam's house opened and out came the doctor covered in dirt and what seemed to be blood. From Jessica no doubt.

"I have news," Carlisle Cullen came outside. His face had been grim, and it seemed like the worst was just the beginning. "And I'm afraid it isn't good."

Jacob's heart broke, and then he broke down.
