♡︎Tarun's Pov♡︎

"Amma!" I exclaimed at my mom and encircled her in my arms. Her tears soaked my shirt and I plucked her back from me. "Why are you crying, mom?" She shook her head and again hugged me. "I missed you so much Tarun," she said into my chest and I felt a stench in my heart.

"I missed you too mom" I mumbled and she patted my back soothingly. "Do you recognize me, sir Tarun?" My dad grinned widely in my face making me shriek away for a second. "god! You scared me dad" I spun my arms around my mom's shoulder and gave a scowl to my dad.

"I'm glad I did, always be scared of me," he said with a funny attitude and sat back on the couch. "Dad, were you been spending more time with Rahul uncle?" I raised my eyebrows at him."huh! How did you know that?" he retorted with an amused expression.

"No wonder you are acting like him" I chuckled along with my mom and dad rolled his eyes. "Where is Aadhya mom?" I inquired her as she looked around the living room in search of Aadhya. "She was here a little while ago," mom said and wandered to the entrance of our mansion

As mom went outside, Aadhya surged into the living room from there and embraced me in a bone-breaking hug. "Seems like my little sister had missed me so much," I said and she released me with a frown and shook her head. "There's a foreigner outside our mansion, Anna (big brother)" Huh?  she is mentioning Richard I think. That dude didn't arrive inside yet.

"He is my friend Aadhya," I said and she loosened up. "He has beautiful eyes" she dreamily glimmered and I stared at her for some time causing her to shrug nonchalantly. "Did someone admire my lovely green eyes?" Richard's voice rang in the living room making Aadhya's eyes go wide. Mom followed behind Richard.

"No!" She shouted back at him and he smirked. "Sure, believed" he smiled at my blushing sister? Why is she blushing! "Aadhya don't you have a semester exam next week, go and study" she grimaced at me. "I can do it some other time" she twitched her lips and darted her eyes to peek at Richard, more like drool.

Oh, come on! She is my sister. I don't want my little sister to check out my best friend. "Aadhya" Dad gave a stern look to her, which made her look away from Richard. At least she is afraid of my dad. "Hello uncle, I'm Richard" Dad gave him a genuine smile. "I've heard quite a lot about you," he asserted making Richard smile widely.

They went on to chat and after having dinner, I made everyone seated on the couch to announce my victory. "What happened Anna(big brother), did you get married to a foreigner?" Aadhya asked with a teasing smile and I shook my head at her. "Ennachu pa (what's the matter da?)" Mom asked me with confusion and I took a deep breath before letting out the happiest news to them.

"Congratulation Tarun!" Mom beamed and ran to me as I twirled her in my arms. My mom is so short. "So you are a scientist now?" Aadhya pouted amusingly and I gave her a wink. Dad gave me a pat on my back. "Happy that you achieved your goal" I gave him a wide grin.

As we were cheerfully celebrating the moment Richard cleared his throat loudly making our eyes land upon him. "Actually I am a professional geologist too" he awkwardly confessed gaining smiles from us.

"Congratulations to you too Richard" Aadhya snickered at him and he visibly blushed. Oh. Well, that's enough for the night I guess. Soon we all left to sleep, and I put on my study spectacles and opened one of my books, "Paleontology".  As I was reading it, I felt a sudden bizarre emotion in my heart.

A feeling of someone tugging my heart, I frowned and closed the book abruptly at the feeling. "What was that" I whispered to myself and removed my spectacles and placed them on the study table. I put on my headphones and immersed myself in the world of music. It provides me with the kind of comfort that I wish for.

The next morning I woke up with a newfound satisfaction. Doing my daily chores, I sat in the dining hall to have breakfast with my family. "Dude, we should start our research from today you know" Richard uttered attempting to eat with his hands and failing miserably. "Aw, here like this" Aadhya showed him how to eat and he tried again, now getting a little better at it.

"Yes Richard, we can leave for that village at 10 am" I darted my eyes to my wristwatch and nodded at him. He was too engrossed in eating to answer back. "God! Aunty this food is really good" He exclaimed causing my mom to smile. "Thank you, dear," My mom said to him while he gleamed.

Once being done with the breakfast, I prepared all the wanted equipment for the research and compiled some of my personal belongings in case if I was stuck somewhere. As I retreated to the living room, I watched Aadhya chatting with Richard. Both of them seemed so pleased.

I shook my head at them and went towards the veranda where my parents are having a chit-chat. "Mom, Dad, I will be back by night, I am going outdoors for work" I declared to them and they nodded with a smile.

Entering inside the mansion again I smacked on Richard's head and literally dragged him out with me. Aadhya glared at me all the while but I wasn't in the mood to revolt with her. Once in the car, I stared out the window as Richard cursed something and drove towards the village.

I'm glad the place for our research is not too far away from my home. I slumped back on the seat and let my eyes dance around the beautiful view outside as we were nearing our destination.

The more we got close to the village, my heart felt as if it is getting close to slipping out of my chest. What's this? I grimaced at the strange feeling.
