♡Tarun's Pov♡
"Ah just allow me to relax for a bit Maha" I muttered and glided my body back to the palm tree. "Noo!" Maha tried to yank my hands but failed miserably. Cute. "What's the matter?" I asked in confusion. "Scientist, the sun is setting!" I gave her an empty look.
"Of course the sun will set and tomorrow morning it will rise again. It's the universal truth" I hissed at her. I'm asking her to give a proper reason for her nervousness and she is speaking about the sun and setting. What do I do with this kid! God!
She shook her head. "No, 'the sun is setting' which means we shouldn't be near a palm tree." Is she gone mad or what? "Why?" I grimaced. She took a step forward and bent down to my eye level. "Because my grandma said that ghost will reside in palm trees after sunset," she said in a quiet tone, her features tensed.
Ghost?
In a palm tree?
I should take Maha to a good psychologist.
"Scientist come let's go" She again gripped my hands and pulled it with so much force but I ain't moving from here. I don't believe in this ghost and all. "Relax Maha" I exclaimed and she pouted sadly still clenching my hands. I jerked her to sit beside me.
She sat with a thud and I chuckled. "Uh- my butt!!" I laughed at her scrunched-up face and ruffled her hair unable to resist her charms. She looked down embarrassed.
Sighing, I let my headrest on the tree and closed my eyes.I love this feeling. A kind which soothes your heart, even though it isn't in pain. I smiled slightly and after a while, I blinked my eye open only to stare at Maha who was gazing at me like I am some kind of eye candy. Oh, wait-She has a crush on me, hmm so her activities are not unexpected.
I got up and patted my pants to shred down the dust. "Okay then, I will be departing Maha" I smiled at her and waved my hands to her face. "Okay" she nodded still seated on the ground.
The night sky began to protrude out and I looked down at Maha with a smirk."Maha, there's a ghost behind you!" I shouted and without wasting another second, I scrambled from there. "Ahh!!! Scientistaeee! I hate you!" I laughed at her scream and made my way out of the village.
I drove in the darkness, my mind taking me back to Maha, her too frank words, innocent reactions, boldness, everything is getting my attention. It's all pricking me in right place. I paused driving abruptly, rewinding what I just thought about her. No, I'm not a pedophile!
I shook my head and began driving again. I was so exhausted when I reached my mansion. Not even a single step into the living room, someone punched me right on the stomach. That shit hurts.
"Hello, Tarun!" Rahul uncle beamed at me. "Rahul uncle!" I grinned back. He gave me a manly hug which I returned with utmost love. I missed him soo much. We used to spend most of the time together in my teenage days.
Releasing me from the hug, I saw his glassy eyes and the way he tried to keep the tears in. "Ah see who is crying!" My dad appeared behind Rahul uncle and smacked his head.
"This guy nowadays cries too much," My dad said with a chuckle meanwhile Rahul uncle glared at him."Correct me If I'm wrong!" Dad raised an eyebrow at Rahul uncle and faced me. "He is an overdramatic fellow, come let's have food" Dad dragged me from there scowling at Rahul uncle. He looked pissed off. "Dad! Dad! Let me freshen up first" I tried to get up from the chair but he gave me a cold look. "be back soon".
"Arjun mama, come here!" he retreated to the kitchen and taking that chance I rushed to my room. I run a quick shower and dressed comfortably in my boxers and a black t-shirt.
After drying my hair, I ruffled it as I made my way out to have food. "Tarun!!!" Oh. I looked down at the girl who was hugging me tightly. Reena, Rahul uncle's daughter. She released me with a broad smile. "My goodness! You are so stunning. Woah. Look at the veins popping out from your wrist. Your eyes! Man damn! You are a whole package" I awkwardly smiled at her.
"So how's school?" I asked her and she rolled her eyes. She must be sixteen now. "That's not important! Let's talk about something else" she wriggled her eyebrows and I folded my hands in front of my chest giving her a stern look. "Ah don't look at me like that, I might melt here" I shook my head at her.
"Well before that let's have dinner, come. My mom also wanted to see you, but she was caught up in her work at the last minute when we decided to stay here for Aadhya's birthday celebration." We both then walked to the dining hall, where my whole family is laughing and chatting around.
"I sat opposite to Aadhya and Richard while Reena sat beside me. "Okay silence, let's have food" Yamu amma announced and everyone began to have food. "Hmm..so, Tarun do you love someone?" I looked up at Rahul uncle with a hint of a frown. Why is everyone so interested in my love life?
Before I could reply, Richard started speaking. "Of course. Her name is Maha!" What the hell! I stared at him in shock. Yamu amma tilted her head at me with a questioning look. "What! No way. Ew. I don't even like her name. Such an old-fashioned name." Reena commented and I don't understand why I am getting irritated by her silly words.
