♡︎Tarun's Pov♡︎
I snap open my car door and slammed it shut harshly after getting in. Richard is accompanying my sister with shopping, and that being the reason I was now going alone to the village. It's not like I hate being alone, it's just that Aadhya and I had a little commotion the morning. Not a huge issue though.
With one hand on the steering wheel, I watched out of the window. The weather was cloudy today, something I admire. With a cool yet warm breeze, I felt comfort engulf me in its hold. I relaxed in my seat and hummed a song.
Reaching the village I heaved a relieved sigh.
I recognized Maha while I made my way into the village, she skimmed through the fields, settling her flying skirt back with a frown. I found that adorable. She suddenly jumped in front of me making me stare down at her with a raised eyebrow.
"Hi" she grinned up at me and I just want to chuckle at her facial expressions. "How are you? Are you fine or not fine? and Did you have lunch..shh..no breakfast? Uh and then what did you have for breakfast? And.." I chuckled slightly at her selection of words and moved back a little to peek at her. She is effortlessly cute. Seems like she had prepared all this already and now presenting it like an anxious student.
"Then?" I asked her with a smile and she frowned opening and closing her mouth in confusion. Her face lit up, apparently catching on to something. "Ahh! Good morning scientist!" She beamed showing her bunny teeth, her nose scrunching up as she glowed widely.
I don't understand why she is being so happy, but I know it is contagious as I felt ecstatic at her words. "Good morning Maha" I ruffled her hair and walked past her while I sensed her jogging behind me.
As I reached the spot for field sampling research, Maha rushed somewhere and came back with the equipment box. I took it from her and placed it beside me before unlocking it and pulling out the required tool. Maha grimaced as I took out the push probe, a tool used for the extraction of soil at any depth.
"What is its name?" I side glanced at her, preparing the tool for its purpose. "Push probe" She nodded with an amused pout and I smiled at her responses. The time passed by as I drowned myself in work. I felt tiredness graze me as the sun poked itself out from the clouds.
"May I help you?" I perked up at Maha who was standing with a concerned face. "It's okay Maha" I maintained a hard gaze as I ran my hands through my hair, letting out a puff of air through my mouth as I continued to dig the push probe deep inside the soil in another spot.
Finally being done, I sighed a breath and arranged all the tools in their place with Maha's help. "No don't, I will do it" She slapped away my hand and put the equipment in place. Huh! Someone's getting too comfortable.
Presently the weather was just unbearable as it pricked our skin with the rays of fire. I looked down at Maha and she turned to face me simultaneously. Her bridge of the nose was decorated with beads of sweat. Her skin flashed elegantly at the sunlight and I find her just too beautiful to divert my gaze away.
She tilted her head, her eyes sparkling and hair cascading to her waist side.
"Hello scientist, are you here?" She waved her hands, I sulked as a thought fell upon my brain. I am checking her out. Seriously Tarun? Not a day has passed since you called her kiddo and now you are doing this?"Oiiiiii!" she was now standing on her tiptoes in front of me and I kept my two fingers on her forehead and pushed her slightly back as she was quite close to my face. Not that I don't like it, it's just I feel weird.
She twitched her lips at me, displeased with my action. "I'm gonna have lunch.." I trailed off remembering that I failed to take my lunch from the table. Shit! "Any problem?" Maha chirped in lifting her eyebrows. "I didn't bring lunch" I expected some pitiful gaze from her but to its vice versa, she grinned widely at me.
"You can have lunch with me in my grandma's house! She cooks tasty food" I felt quite uneasy, she just said it like that, but the offer seemed quite uncomfortable for me. My stomach churned demanding I shut my mouth and accept her offer. I endorse, I'm certainly hungry.
When she didn't receive any reply from me, she hissed and wrapped her fingers around my wrist, hauling me forward. "Scientistaee! Don't feel bad, my grandma is soo sweet" she winked at me and I let myself follow behind her as she led the way.
"Grandma look who is here!" She shouted reaching a small yet gorgeous house. The grandma who sat silently on the veranda eyed me and gave a genuine smile. I returned the gesture.
"Vaa pa saapdalam (come dear let's eat)" I was actually quite surprised at her words." Vaanga (Come)" Maha dragged me in by getting hold of my hand again.I had my food in silence though I feel a little okay in here. Maha just wouldn't stop bickering, I wonder does even she knows what she's talking about. As we completed the lunch, I met with her grandma again. "The food is incredibly delicious grandma" she smiled, a hearty one.
"And grandma, my sister's birthday is the day after tomorrow and I would like to invite you there. I know we just met and you don't know anything about me but just consider my words. I would be so happy If you both would come there."
Listening to my words, she frowned but nodded her head glancing behind me. I followed her gaze and found Maha sliding against the wall.
