Confession

Hello! This is my first one-shot so please be nice. Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated!

Hinata's POV

Okay, so I may have a little secret. It's not too drastic, but I'd die if anyone found out. I have a crush on my teammate, Tobio Kageyama. Today is the day I'm planning on confessing! I have tried many times before, but I chickened out each time. I'm not scared anymore though! At first, I couldn't do it because I didn't know if he liked me back. I didn't want to ruin the relationship I already had with him. But now, I'm sure! Well...partially. I went to get advice from Suga-san (being as subtle as possible of course) and he told me to just go for it! He also told me he might know what I'm talking about and said that he thinks my crush likes me back. I'm not exactly sure how to feel about that, but it's given me hope!

I'm planning on confessing to him before afternoon practice. Since it's the time he's probably most happy and excited, I'll have a better chance. At least compared to when he's in a grumpy mood. See, I can be smart too! 

~Timeskip to before afternoon practice~

"Hey! Bakayama! Wait for meeee." 

"Dumbass Hinata, stop being such a slowpoke if you're going to complain"

"So meannnnn." 

He walks a little bit slower so I can easily catch up to him. Alright, now's my chance!

"H-hey, Kageyama-Kun?"

He looks back at me with a questioning look on his face

"I need to tell you something important."

Kageyama's POV

"I need to tell you something important."

Hinata's been my best friend ever since we started playing together. At least, that's what he thinks. I've had a crush on the little tangerine for a while now.  He doesn't know it, but he means the world to me. 

I look at him with a concerned look on my face. 

"Well, what is it?'

"I- uhhhh. Well, you see ever since I met you, you made my heart go all bwahhh and uwahhhhh and gwahhh."

"Hinata, stop talking like an idiot and tell me normally"

I don't think it's idiotic. I find it cute how he explains things in his own language. While I do find it adorable and all, I cannot understand it for the life of me. Of course, I could never tell him all this.

 "Oh! Uh...sorry. I guess what I'm trying to say is I like you a lot, and I was wondering if you felt the same."

"Oh yeah, I guess I like you too."

Hinata's POV

Oh. My. God. D-did he just say that?! This is the happiest day of my life! I can't believe this whole time he's liked me ba-

"I find you as a great friend too. You're an amazing decoy as well."

"..."

"..."

I just got friend-zoned. I knew it. How could I be so dumb? It's obvious he's not gay. Plus, he only ever cares about volleyball. I never had a chance. 

Whatever, it's fine. But I'd rather him know about my true feelings. I don't want things to get awkward between us, I just really need to get this off my chest. 

"No, Kageyama. That's not what I meant."

"Eh? Then what did you mean?"

"I don't like you. I love you. I love you romantically. I want to date you, and kiss you, and hug you. I want to stay with you for the rest of our lives. I know that you don't like me back in that way, and it's fine. I just really wanted to get this off my chest."

"I-I love you too."

"Wait, really?!"

He slowly nods at me. He likes me! No. He loves me! He accepts my confession. I'm so happy! 

I throw myself into his arms embracing him in a warm hug. He catches me, hugging me back and softly stroking my hair. 

"D-does that mean we're dating now?'

"Yea? I guess it does."

I break away from his hug. We look into each other's eyes. Slowly, I reach for the collar of his shirt. I close my eyes and press his lips onto mine. His lips are warm and slightly chapped. He returns the kiss, wrapping his hands around my waist. I slither my fingers around his neck. It's a very sloppy kiss. After all, this is my first kiss, and I'm pretty sure that it's Kageyama's too. I could stay in this moment forever, never having to let go of my new boyfriend. The kiss felt like it lasted forever when in reality it only lasted for a few seconds. We break away, both blushing as red as a tomato. 

Kageyama's POV

Hinata just confessed to me, and my dense ass almost friend-zoned him. I have no relationship experience. I thought friends always tell each other that they like them. Why else would Hinata do that? Instead, he likes me romantically, and we are dating now. This is kind of awkward. We are just looking at each other in silence. Am I supposed to do something?

All of a sudden, Hinata reaches his hands out toward me. He grabs my collar and pulls me down. Then, he kisses me. That's right. His lips are on my lips. What do I do? I don't know how to kiss someone! His lips are wet and so soft. They feel so nice on mine. I decided that it would be awkward if I didn't kiss back. I do what I see people do in movies, and what Daichi does when he kisses Suga (when he thinks we're not looking). I slither my long, slender fingers around his waist, and softly press my lips onto his. I feel his tiny hands grabbing onto my neck.

 This is all I need. I can stay like this for the rest of eternity. I can't tell if I'm doing this right. This is my first kiss after all. The kiss lasted a few seconds, although I wish it could have lasted more. We break apart from each other's embrace. He looks like a tomato, blushing such a bright red. It's cute. 

"We should probably head to practice now, yeah?"

"Oh! Uh- yeah."

"..."

"Hey, Kageyama-san?"

"Yeah?"

"You should probably go buy some chapstick. Race ya!"

"What? Oh, you're going to pay for that! You're on!"
