Okay, so this is an au where Hinata is deaf. He's been like that since he was born, and his parents don't have the money to buy hearing aids. Hinata doesn't have a sister because I just hate Natsu for some reason. (Don't hate me) This means someone is using sign language. Enjoy!

Hinata's POV

There's shouting going on downstairs. I can't hear it, but I know it's happening. My mom always does this when she gets home. I want to convince myself that it's not my fault even though I know it is. She's been feeling stressed lately. After Dad went to jail, we've been struggling with money. We are behind on rent. I go downstairs to check on Mom. The screaming must have stopped a while ago because she's on the couch fast asleep. I carry her to her room (I know I'm short but I'm stronger than I look) and lay her down on the bed. 

I go to my bed, but not before putting out my uniform for tomorrow. It's going to be my first day of school, and I don't want my first impression to be as "the deaf kid". Plus, I want to get there early so I can check out the gym. I'm trying out for volleyball on Wednesday. However, I'm hesitant on whether they'll accept me since I'm...y'know, deaf. Whatever, I should stop thinking about this and go to bed.

~The next morning~

Kageyama's POV

Today is the first day of school. I'm not too excited about it. Who would be? "Yay! I get to go out and spend hours learning useless information that I don't understand!" Bullshit. Regardless, I throw on my wrinkled uniform, grab a carton of milk, and start heading out the door. I make it out to the driveway before getting stopped by my mom.

"What are you doing? Get back inside and eat your breakfast!"

"I don't need it. I'll just drink this milk an-"

"Oh, hell no! You are not going to school with an empty stomach. I refuse."

She drags me in and makes me eat my breakfast. I can last perfectly fine on a carton of milk for a whole two days. Yes, I have tried. After I eat, I kiss my mom goodbye and start heading out...again. 

~Time skip~

I enter the school a little early. It's not as early as I had hoped, but I still had time to check out the gym. I'm thinking of trying out for volleyball on Wednesday's tryouts. I run over bursting in through the double doors. As I look around, I get startled by a group of guys who look like they are third years. 

"Heya, you must be a first year. Koushi Sugawara. Checking out the gym?"

He has silver hair and brown eyes. There's something about those eyes that seem very calm, and almost...motherlike? I don't know how to explain it, but he seems nice, I guess.  

"Uh, yeah. Tobio Kageyama. I'm planning on trying out for the volleyball team."

At that moment, someone bursts through the door making a loud bang. 

Hinata's POV

I finally arrive at school. I'm a little later than I expected to be, but I still have time to see the gym! I quickly run over and slam open the doors. There I see three big, scary guys. Well, only three of them look scary. The other one seems nice. At this point, I realize everyone is staring at me. One of the scary guys walks up to me. He has black hair, blue eyes, and broad shoulders. Holy shit he's hot. He starts saying something to me, and I try to read his lips. I'm not very good at that though, so I point to my ears instead. He stares at me confused.
