Rajendra (sanjeev and Meera's father) had a elder brother prasad, the brother was a greedy person so were is family members.
When meera was 14 prasad's family kicked out rajendra's ( they were in joint family), when rajendra and prasad father died. Prasad made sure that his younger brother didn't get anything. Prasad changed the will of his father to his benefits.
Everyone pushed rajendra for a court case but he was heart broken by his brother and he didn't want to pull his brother to court. Rajendra's family stayed with a relative untill they can afford themselves.
Ram Chandrashekhar wanted to support his sister's family, even got them financial aide but rajendra declined ( taking any help from wife's family is kind of considered as exploits and also be degraded if the son in law stayed with his wife's family).
Rajendra worked hard to make sure that his family can get their own home, sanjeev helped his father working part-time and continuing his studies. Meera took dance lessons to the neighborhood children, meena took tailoring classes ( she did as a hobby but after that she started the class to get paid).
Arjun knew this athai (aunt) family have pride that they will not take any help with finance so he made sure that the work they do always get double payment.
This situation made Krishna vani to think that Meera becoming her daughter in law will make her less infront of the society. Krishna vani wanted huge dowry so she started to search alliance for her son.
Marriage broker brought lot of alliance as when village people came know about it, they all started to send alliance as they wanted village head's only son to become their son in law.
When Arjun heard he felt rage as everyone knew about his relationship but even after that they have sent alliance for their daughters. On the same time village had festival where they did pooja and some game shows for entertainment.
On the third day of the festival in the evening the village head arranged drama and dance show for the people. Arjun took this as an opportunity to show everyone his relationship with Meera.
He pulled Meera to the stage with him, he took the Mike and announced everyone present there about his relationship. He hugged her infront of everyone. (PDA is usually frowned upon in village area ).
This made rajendra's family happy as he is still with their daughter even after the loss they have occurred. Ram was happy that at least his son was able to stand for his love.
But Krishna Vani went on ramp fire, as for her Meera didn't fit for her family. She saw them as low class people, Krishna vani pulled Arjun away from the crowd to speak with but he will always say that Meera is his wife.
After that scene even if Krishna vani sent alliance for any family they used to trun down the offer, as they all know about Arjun's craziness.
