Chapter 19: Just Getting Started

Scarecrow POV

Two hours after the meeting

I was in the workshop of the base finishing up a project I had come up with for the rope darts. I was having trouble focusing on the task at hand, I thought I had moved past my past. But, I keep seeing Olivier's(Lion's) face, the look on his ex-girlfriend's face when I told her. I physically jolted my head when I thought about me shoving my blade through his flesh. I shook my head

'Have to focus' I thought to myself angrily and went back to work.

I moved forward for another ten minutes attaching a mounting bracket to the blade when my mind started drifting again, and jerked uncomfortably, almost physically so, to my father holding the gun to my face. 

"Dammit," I yelled as he pulled the trigger and I jolted again. I slammed my hands on the workbench making a loud bang. I turned around putting my hands to my face and saw the calm face of Masaru(Echo), who was working on a glowing hot piece of metal with a hammer. Eliza(Ash), Morowa(Clash), and Masaru(Echo) were also there working on projects of their own. They all looked at me until, Eliza(Ash) started walking towards me, then the other two went back to work. I turned back to my project.

"You alright friend," she asked, hopping onto the bench next to me while I was trying to get my focus back.

"I'm alright, just alot on my mind," I said shortly finishing attaching the bracket. 

We both were silent for the next minute or so. She finally spoke up as I was tightening a screw on the bracket. 

"I read the file you sent everyone," She said with a careful tone

I stopped working and set my tools down, I don't want to make any assumptions about her character or response. I've also never told anyone my full backstory, so I fully expected to be called a freak.

"And?" I asked 

"Your combat training is impossible, how'd you master that many forms of hand to hand in such a short amount of time?" She asked

I looked over at her, and she had a grin?

"I'm just curious honestly," She said sincerely

"The training was constant, I don't need to sleep all that much, when I'm awake I can pretty much stay at one hundred percent physical exertion," I explained, "Also if I eat, say ten thousand calories and drink a gallon of water my body will use it as needed, very little to no waste."

She looked at me with disbelief, "So do you ever go to the bathroom?" 

"Yes, even my body can get over full, and there will always be nutrients, and unnecessary additives in the food and drink I consume that will need to be expelled," I replied turning back to my project "I know how it sounds, impossible," 

"So was the stunt you pulled in North Korea to save Meghan(Valkyrie), and the spike you had through your shoulder in New Mexico healing in an hour or so, and the punctured lung you had in New Mexico," She said in a simple tone "I believe you Y/n,"

I glanced over to her, and saw that sincerity in her eyes again, "Thank you," 

"Happy to help anytime you need, but right now I think you know that your help is needed elsewhere," She said making me stop working again and turn back towards her.

"And where is that?" I asked curiosity in my voice

"Seamus(Sledge), he needs someone like him," She said

"I don't know if I'm like him," I said quickly "I don't know if what was done to him could have any long term side effects, or if this was permanent, or how strong he is or will be,"
