Y/n POV

8 hours from Seoul

We were sat on a cargo plane headed for Seoul most of the operators were sleeping or checking their gear nervously none of us really know each other Caviera and Vigil were discussing strategy I can already tell they were going to pair up once we're boots on the ground. Craig and I were sitting near the back of the plane checking our gear "I can't believe you broke my nose" Craig complained while disassembling his SR-25 which he got fresh out of requisitions for the mission.

"I can" I said simply while reassembling my M9.

"Whatever, at least you set it while I was out. We almost had you man," He said with confidence

"Keep telling yourself that" I said while loading the magazine back into my M9. I glance down the plane at Meghan who was sleeping peacefully at the other end of the plane. "So she still mad at me?" I said curiously

Craig looked up from oiling his rifle "Honestly, I don't think she can be mad at you for long even after what happened to your squad. Speaking of which-"

"Careful, Craig. You're treading on mighty thin ice." I said slowly

"Y/n, I get it you don't want to talk about it" Craig said hesitantly

"It's not that, Craig, I'm not allowed to talk about it it's top secret" I said carefully

"Is there anything you can tell me?"

"Yeah... it's my fault"

Y/n POV

Everyone on the plane was now sleeping as I was still checking my gear my mask had been on for over 12 hours now, not the longest it's been on, but I needed to update the software in it I was hoping to finish adding voice commands to it. I took off my mask then my helmet and plugged it into my gauntlets. I was mostly done by now just needed to check it I added a mute feature to my helmet all I had to do was tap my middle finger to the tip of my thumb then to my palm.

Working on my gear was hard, not complication wise I learned technology as a kid. But my mind was too busy I was thinking about the incident with the SEALS. I put on my helmet again and tried out the mute function.

"Craig." I said loudly to the sleeping operator he didn't even stir so I decided to try something "So you want to know what happened I guess I'll tell you..." I looked at the floor and began the story

"I'd been working with the SEALS for roughly two years I'd basically had one squad throughout the two years I did some side ops with you. My squad consisted of four men Cole "Stonewall" Castellano, Kyle "Reaper" Smite, Pedro "Lucifer" Montoya, and John "Boogeyman" White. We'd grown pretty close over our years together I even had the privilege to meet Cole's sister." I glanced at Meghan "Stonewall got his name from a mission were he stood his ground against over 100 members of the Taliban until reinforcements arrived and not one of them gained an inch. Lucifer had a brother somewhere, but he was a very quiet and private man while being notoriously ruthless in combat. Reaper was a sniper through and through he could shoot the nut out of a squirrel's paw at 400 yards with iron sights. Boogeyman used to be a mercenary but was converted to a SEAL due to his need for honor and his weird need to belong, he preferred hand to hand but was decent with any weapon you gave him. Anyway you knew all that" I said to Craig's sleeping form "We got intel on a stationing ground for the Taliban in a local village so we were deployed to clear it out and destroy any munitions we discovered. This was high risk, but we were the best so we weren't particularly worried, and I had finally put some finishing touches on my canister bombs Mark I so I decided to do a field test. We all had respirators . I took the lead as I always had, Lucifer had my back while Reaper went to find a vantage point, Stonewall and Boogeyman were clearing buildings throughout the other side of the village we cleared building after building killing anyone we found as it was confirmed that the Taliban had taking the town over completely making this mission completely weapons free. However after killing maybe twenty of them the alarm went off apparently someone saw Stonewall kill one of his buddies. It got bloody fast, we rendezvoused at the building Reaper was posted on and made a stand. I still don't know the official kill count because the op became classified but it had to have been upwards of two hundred. Reaper was the first to run out of ammo, like me he traveled light for benefits in speed, so I gave him my M4 so he could stay in the fight and switched to my M9. They were endless Craig, eventually I started throwing my canisters and this was back when my fear gas formula was raw and more potent it flooded the brain with adrenocorticotropic and cortisone(the fear hormones) but it also gave a huge overdose of adrenaline making them dangerously strong and fast, now it's more diluted so I can still get information out of it's victim if I needed to and actually suppresses the bodies adrenal glands . The Taliban went rabid and started shooting randomly it became dangerous stray's winged Lucifer and another shot shattered Stonewall's mask. We were so busy fighting we didn't even notice it shattered he went crazy and turned his M240 on Boogeyman he emptied a full belt into him before I noticed. I ran over disarmed him and tackled him to the ground even with his enhanced strength and speed I knew roughly 15 forms of hand to hand at the time so I have no excuse as to why I wasn't able to take him down, but he was able to throw a right hook and it threw me of of him. The the other two were still fighting at the windows trusting me to handle it, but I couldn't he charged Reaper punching him in the face shattering his mask. Reaper lost it and went fighting hand to hand with Lucifer and since Lucifer was wounded he could barely keep up. It was chaos so I did the only thing I could I ran up to him and pulled the antidote out of my gauntlet, it was in syringe form back then and took awhile to fully kick in. He was too fast and strong to let me use it on him and even if I could the brain damage from the raw formula would've been extensive and Reaper was running out of time. What I did next will haunt me to this day" I paused tears forming in my eyes " I deployed my hidden blade into his chest. he fought so hard and I didn't have the skill to hold back and just incapacitate him... So I stabbed one of my only friends in this world in the heart... I see the look in his eyes every time I close mine and I swear he came to his senses for a split second because the look in his eyes was all to clear to me as I had seen it before the look of disbelief and betrayal" I choked out and put my head in my hands "And because I killed him I was able to run up to Reaper while he was busy trying to strangle Lucifer on the ground to administer the antidote and wrestle him to the ground. After the antidote kicked in Reaper was out. Lucifer, and I were able to kill the rest of the Taliban who were basically comatose due to my fear gas we were silent not because of the executions we were pulling off usually we were the only ones mercy killing the victims of the gas we were silent because, before this we were thought to be invincible I called for a med evac for Reaper and Lucifer I asked Lucifer to report me KIA since he was the only one alive and conscious all he did is nod. I could tell what happened today would haunt him for the rest of his life just like it would Reaper and me . I disappeared before the med evac arrived I knew my time with the SEALS was done. My time with teams in general was done. I called Six and reported the situation and she sent for an evac for me. Over the next five years I did nothing but train and refine my gadgets and tools. I became Scarecrow a being of fear and destruction who worked alone until now I guess. To this day I can't close my eyes without seeing them." I finished as the alarm went of signaling we were an hour out everyone snapped awake and saw me leaned down with my head in my hands Craig looked over to me "Scarecrow, you good?" I nodded and proceeded to do a final equipment check.
