The group of snakes have been traveling from the moment they left up to midday, so they got pretty far into the woods.
Thankfully the forest was large and thick with bushes and plant life, but it would not keep them safe for long if they remained in it. Everyone in the group was familiar with the outside world, because they were either born in the wild, released, or escaped and have been in the wild long enough.
Well, everyone except Raven. While yes she was born in a pet shop like Lunar, there was a difference between the two. Lunar escaped easily, but Raven could not escape as easily as the King Cobra did. Raven had only been outside for less than a day, and she hasn't been outside in a while. She made sure to hold on to Elly or Henry while they travelled so that she doesn't fall off and get left behind. She decided not to think about it for any longer and decided to enjoy the scenery.
At the back, Lunar was watching the group closely and turned to the sides and looked back every once in a while. She had great hearing, so she could hear anything approaching. Lunar was the 3rd biggest and strongest snake in the group, so if anything were to try and attack her friends it would have to get through her.
The snakes made it to a tree-clear part of the forest, and looking up they saw clouds forming above. They were thick dark grey clouds, so that meant it would rain.
That was a good thing because they could rest for a while before they continued, knowing that the rain would overpower their scent and cover their lines of tracks.
Elly looked around for something to shelter under, and she noticed a large fallen log in the field. "Guys! I found a log, so we can use it as a temporary shelter!" Elly yelled to the group, who followed her as she slithered to the log. As soon as they got there, they saw it was hollow. Perfect.
They slithered inside and laid down, all of them curling up as the rain began to pour down softly. Henry curled up next to Elly as Raven curled up in the boa's arms. Henry smiled, but he then frowned. "E-Elly.." She looked at him, "Yeah, Henry?" He sighed, before turning to her with a worried expression, "Will we be safe? Not just us, but Raven as well. She's the smallest out of all of us and she could get hurt easily." Elly breathed out, looking as concerned as Henry was, "I don't know, but we will find a safe place. All of us. And I will make sure of it."
Henry smiled, being glad that Elly would do that for everyone, "Thank you, Elly. I'm so glad to have you here, with us." Elly smiled as she looked down at Raven, but then she felt a kiss on her left in her face. Looking at her left, Henry was pulling away from her, lightly blushing, "I'm glad to have you here with me."
Elly chuckled, smiling and lightly blushing as well. "Me too, Henry." She looked down at Raven, who was now sleeping into her arms, being tired still. Henry put his hand on Elly's paws, which she leaned her head on his shoulder. "I love you, Elly. Y'know that?" Henry whispered, and Elly nodded slowly, "Yes, Henry. I know, and I love you too."
From near the entrance, Lunar stared at them with a wide smile. "Love birds" thought the King Cobra, then she laid her head on her arms to rest. To Henry and Elly's luck, the rest of the group didn't hear their conversation due to the now heavily pouring rain hitting the log, as well as some rain getting inside from an opening in the log's "ceiling".
*30 minutes later*
The rain now eased up a bit to a few droplets falling, which told Lunar that it was time to keep moving. Uncurling and standing up, she went to the group and gently spoke up, "You guys, the rain calmed down. We have to move" The group all woke up and stood up, yawning at different times. Lunar yawned as well, playfully glaring at the group, "You guys made me yawn!" James huffed in amusement as he climbed onto Bitzen's back along with CC, "Ha!" exclaimed the Taipan.
Jason hummed happily as he adjusted himself on Roxan's back, making sure to hold on tightly. "Well, let's go then!" he said.
Elly woke up, yawning widely as she stretched. She got up from her curled position, making sure to grab Raven as well. Henry also woke up from not feeling Elly next to him, and he also stretched as he got up. Elly turned to the group, who all looked ready to continue, "is everyone ready? Do you all have your stuff?" "Yep!" "Yes" was all that was heard.
The group slithered out of the log, and Lunar began to look, sniff, and move her ears to listen. She was checking to see if they were being followed, and turning back to the group she announced, "It's clear, you guys! There are no humans nearby!" They all sighed in relief, being glad that they were safe.
Elly slithered out in front of the group, continuing to go South. As they did when they left, Lunar remained at the back, because you never know.
As they slithered, Henry looked back at the group. They were a bit more calm than they were a while ago, except for Lunar. While she looked calm, Henry knew she was just ready to attack anything that tried to hurt them. He faced the front again, thinking about nothing but the safety of his friends and girlfriend.
