The rain had stopped right after 12 and a half minutes, which meant sunlight. The sun shined on everyone's tail scales, but it wasn't too harsh as to not harm them.
As they moved, a couple of growls were heard. They haven't eaten since they left, so they were hungry.
"Well, time for a lunch break I guess?" Elly looked around, then nodded "Yep. Let's stop for a moment to eat, guys!"
The snakes curled in their own spots, not too close nor to far from eachother. They looked in their backpacks and each took out a fair portion their food, all of them eating it. Elly shared some with Raven, who gladly took it and ate it after thanking the large boa.
As they ate, Lunar took some bites out of her food as she looked around. Jason looked at her, and wanted to tell her to rest. But he couldn't. He too was as anxious as she was, not being able to know when or where the SCC (Serpent Control Center) would come from looking for them.
Jason was cut out of his thoughts as Bitzen put a hand on his shoulder, telling the Mamba that everything will be fine. He nodded at the Coral Snake, focusing back on his food, Bitzen doing the same.
CC slithered up next to Lunar, curling next to her as she ate her food. Lunar glanced down at the Taipan before looking back up to watch out for humans. CC looked up at her in silence for a while before Lunar spoke in a soft but nervous tone, "What do you need, CC?" CC looked up at the large cobra, swallowing her food and then taking in a breath "I.... I-m just worried for you, Lunar"
The king cobra moved her ears slightly, looking down at the taipan "Why are you worried about me? I'm the third largest snake in this group, so there's no need to worry about me, y'know." she claimed, to which CC replied "I know, it's just....." she sighed, looking out to the horizon where the now barely visible forest is. Her expression went to a worried one as she looked out there as if waiting for something to happen. "I don't want anything to happen to my friends is all.... and I know you can pretty much handle yourself, but still." CC then climbed up to Lunar's shoulder, "You could get killed!"
Lunar stayed silent for a couple of seconds before she spoke "CC, I know what might happen, but that'll only be if I'm not careful." she pet the small taipan, smiling at her "Also, I doubt Elly will allow them to even try anything"
CC sighed and smiled, she knew Lunar was right. If either Lunar or Henry cannot protect them then Elly is like the last stand to them, only she will aim to kill if necessary. But that might not be an option yet. Lunar put her hand/paw on CC's head, which was quite large compared to CC herself.
The cobra let out a chuckle as CC gently moved the hand/paw off her head. The taipan then also chuckled, looking at her friend softly, "Thanks, Lunar. You are right, about Elly being able to protect us. You're the greatest friend!" CC yelled out to Lunar as she hopped off her shoulder and slithered back to the group.
Lunar looked at the direction CC went for a couple of seconds before turning back around to the direction of the far away forest. She had a serious look for a moment, then she smiled.
"You too, CC. You are a great friend too"
Although she was scared for her friends too, Lunar had to remain strong. The SCC would most likely capture the group and put them in captivity, but she did not want to let that happen.
Lunar would just have to hope for a great future ahead for herself and her friends.
