"Ok, c'mon you two. Let's keep going" Elly said, Henry and Lunar getting up and helping the other 2 snakes.
They moved carefully through the dense forest, avoiding any suspiciously thick pile of leaves. The sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling calmed them down, even making them feel relaxed. Elly put a paw up, allowing a butterfly to land on it.
Henry looked at the butterfly on Elly's paw in amazement and he took Raven out of the backpack to allow her to see. The tiny redbelly reached out to the butterfly, and it slowly opened and closed its bright orange wings. Raven moved her ears down and then up, mimicking the butterfly's movements. It then flew away as if it got annoyed, but Raven stared in awe.
Lunar took the chance to enjoy the natural scenery and be less tense. She took in a deep breath, taking in the smell of nearby flowers and condensation. Lunar glanced at Raven, who looked very cheery and happy to be outside.
"Elly! Elly!! Look over there!!" Little Raven said as she pointed down to something, which the 3 large snakes as well as Roxan and Bitzen heard. Elly looked at where she was pointing at, and let her down on the ground. Raven sprinted to a bunch of blue flowers, and they were blue night Ellises. A very rare flower, and not to mention a beautiful one, and the only flower that can survive even when picked.
Raven picked one gently and ran back to Elly, showing her the flower that was twice as tall as Raven. "Look! An Ellise! It sounded like your name, and it's blue! So... here!"
There were no words to describe how much awe and happiness Elly had. She thought his was super adorable, and she picked Raven and the flower up. Little Raven put it on the boa's hair, making sure it stays. "There!" Elly smiled widely at Raven and gave her a hug. Henry slithered right next to Elly, putting a hand on her shoulder, "Ya look pretty, Elly". The boa hummed, and she hugged him too, "Thanks, Henry"
Roxan and Bitzen both let out a "ooooooooooh~" at the same time, "Oh grow up you two!" Said Elly, causing the 2 snakes to laugh among themselves. Raven jumped to a nearby tree, and she used her claws to get a grip of the log. "Raven, you already do parkour, you don't need to show off your climbing skills either!" Said James from the backpack, which Raven ignored and climbed to a low branch.
Elly stood up and reached out to her, "Raven, c'mon now. We have to get to the So-"
*SCREEEEEEAAAA!!!*
The group flinched at the sudden screech, but Raven froze in fear. Her eyes were very wide and her ears were pinned on her head, for she had recognized that screech.
That familiar screech.
It could only belong to a certain family favorite pet
One that...... has brown and white feathers
Oh no...
She frantically looked around and then made her way towards Elly, trying not to fall as she was shaking in fear.
Elly hastily reached out to grab Raven, "R-Raven, ju-"
But before she could finish...
An eagle instantly swooped in and snatched the little snake, making the group panic. "RAVEN!!!"
The eagle pinned her down onto the ground, earning a squeak of pain. Looking up weakly, Raven saw her old enemy.
Thomas the eagle...
"I.... I finally fucking found you, ya little fuck!" He growled as the tiny snake struggled against his grip, but she was much weaker being so small. Thomas then held her up with his talon, having a tight and painful grip on her. Raven shook in fear as he chuckled darkly, "You escaped well, but you thought you could hide well in the wild, huh?! Well do I have some god damn news for ya!!" He squeezed her, making Raven whimper out both in fear and pain. Thomas brought her up to his face, "You cannot outrun an eagle prince, little worm.."
"Hey!!" Elly yelled out to Thomas, earning his attention but he didn't turn around. "Oh great... what is it now? You have friends?? Ain't that soooo sweet?" Lunar growled and spoke up, "That's OUR friend you have in your talons, you pigeon!!" Thomas ignored them and kept his attention to Raven, who attempted to bite him like she did in her escape, but he moved his claw so that she bit that instead of his foot itself. It didn't hurt Raven, but it sure made her flinch. Elly slithered up to him, standing tall as she easily towered over Thomas, casting a shadow. "We were talking to you, you overgrown chicken."
Thomas groaned and proceeded to turn his head around, "And who do you pets think you a-" before he finished his sentence, his face went from a spoiled confident one to a now terrified and shocked one. Elly, Henry, and Lunar towered over him, all 3 glaring at him.
The eagle loosened his grip on Raven unknowingly, giving Raven the chance to run to her friends. Elly lowered her paw so that the little redbelly had climb up, then holding her close in a hug. Raven was shaking as she hugged Elly, and both Lunar and Henry noticed.
Before Thomas could fly away, James sprinted in and bit his wing, injecting a flaming venom into it. Thomas screeched in pain and flung James away, attempting to fly away. But he couldn't due to the venom doing its work, clotting the blood and painfully burning the veins. Elly harshly slammed the eagle down with her tail and coiled it around his body, not wasting time on crushing the bird.
As Thomas was struggling to take a breath in, Elly brought him up to her face. She growled deeply, "Let this be a lesson to never mess with a lamia pack."
She opened her jaw very wide, and putting the eagle's head in first, she bit down on it.
Elly uncoiled her tail from the body, and the group watched it go limp, being satisfied that he was now dead. Raven kept hugging Elly, now being more calm as she took in her warmth. The boa ate the eagle whole, then she wiped her mouth with her left paw. She glanced at Lunar and Henry, then looked forward.
"Who was that eagle, anyways?" Jason asked, making Raven stiff up. Elly noticed, and she looked down at her. Raven looked down to the side, "Th-that was Thomas, the Tailow's pet eagle. He got treated better than I did..." CC, Jason, and James climbed into Elly's backpack and looked over the large boa's shoulder to Raven. CC smiled at her, "Well, at least he's gone now. Right?"
Henry hummed, "Yeah, but if that eagle got to us, then it means it was sent by them. Humans could find us at any moment if we stay in one place." Bitzen agreed with him, and so did the rest.
Lunar looked around, and then back to Elly, who was putting Raven on her shoulder so that she could climb in the backpack.
Lunar's right ear tilted as the sound of footsteps was heard, although it was quite far away. She looked to her right, and then she turned to her friends. "Elly we need to leave, and now. I heard footsteps from my right, and even though they're far away the humans will get here at any moment." Elly nodded at her, and signalled to Roxan and Bitzen to get on hers and Henry's backs.
They did so, and Elly turned and ran to the west so that she could find an alternative and safe path to the south. Henry and Lunar followed her closely, both a bit tense from the eagle's sudden appearance and attack. Unbeknownst to them, something was also following them, and it was not human, but it did work with them.
