At this point, Raven had fallen asleep on Lunar's shoulder. Lunar has been moving through the jungle for almost 3 hours, and she was very exhausted. She stopped to rest next to a tree, curling up and making herself comfortable. The king cobra put Raven on her paws to ensure her safety and comfortableness, even though they both were in a vulnerable spot. Lunar kept an eye out for any threat and moved her ears around to catch any sound.
Thunder suddenly rumbled from up above, slightly catching Lunar off guard. Looking up, she saw that the sky had become slightly darker, so she knew they were rain clouds. A rain drop fell on her nose, and then another one fell next to her. Soon it had begun to rain at a normal rate, which Lunar found sort of relaxing.
Little Raven had woken up from the sound of the rain's downpour, which was slowly intensifying. "Good mornin', sleepy head" Lunar joked, making Raven playfully glare at her before looking at the pouring rain. Lunar leaned closer to where the rain was, and Raven put her little paws out to try and catch some rain drops. Her lower arms were soaked in less than a minute, making her fur look a little bit spiky.
Lunar suddenly became uneasy and stood up, backing away from the rain and into the tree. Raven noticed the large lamia's uneasiness and looked up at her, "W-what's wrong, Lunar?" "I'll get us to higher ground. The rain is intensifying and it'll cause a flood down here."
She was right, because the puddles around were becoming larger and eventually joining together. Lunar hissed loudly and immediately put Raven on her shoulder, now having both paws free and available to use for climbing.
With zero hesitation, Lunar turned around and began to climb the tree, only struggling a bit due to her lower serpent body. In almost 10 minutes Lunar was already at the top of the tree, but the now very heavy downpour had now formed a lake. "Holy hell.. I did not think it would rain so much it would cause this!" Raven squeaked in agreement with Lunar, not being able to make out a word from the shock.
The loud thunder crashing added to the tension, and much to Lunar's already high defensive aggressiveness. Looking back, the king cobra noticed a rather large opening to the tree. It lead to an abandoned den that had remains of fluff, as well as the intact nest inside it. She hesitantly entered the den, her large serpent body taking up most of the space in it, but not much for Raven to not be able to be in it. Exhaling, Lunar held Raven close as she looked outside at the still pouring rain, "We'll have to stay here, I suppose. Not much room, but at least it's better than being out in the harsh rain.." Raven curled up in Lunar's hold, "Mhm... at least we're gonna be safe, I think..."
The small lamia looked up at the larger lamia, "Lunar? What happened that made you hiss loud?" Lunar remained quiet for a moment, and then she was about to answer Raven's question, until a sound cut her off.
*growwlll*
Hiding Raven with her paws, Lunar whiped her head to the den's opening and bared her fangs as she let out a loud snarl.
On a branch close to the den was a large jaguar, and it did not look happy with a lamia being present. The jaguar stepped closer to Lunar, which put her on edge "A filthy reptile like you does not belong here... I order you to leave or else.."
Lunar slithered out of the den and put Raven down inside it, making sure to hide the tiny lamia with her tail. "Or else what, cat? What are you gonna do?" She spat at the feline, but that made it, or him, even more angry. He hissed at her and lifted his head, "Watch your tongue, serpent. I am Zathorah, king of the Rain Valley. You will listen to my orders, or you will--!" He paused, his gaze focusing on something in the den. A grin grew on the jaguar's muzzle, while Lunar was getting more annoyed at the feline. "What the hell are you grinning about?"
"I see you have a precious little snake.." Zathorah mentioned, and Raven shrunk back to hide. Lunar used her hood to block Raven from the feline's view, "Leave Raven out of this!!" "Oh so it has a name?? How cute~" Zathorah purred in an evil way, but it only made Lunar even more angry. He ignored Lunar's deep snarl that warned him to back up as he got closer to the den, moving Lunar's hood aside to get a better look at the now shaking redbelly. In an instant Lunar swiped a clawed paw at the jaguar, which nearly knocked him off the branch, but he grabbed on with his claws. "Get the hell away from her!!" Lunar yelled, wrapping her tail tip around Raven and pulling her toward herself.
Zathorah chuckled, leaving his claws unsheathed and his eyes turned thin. "Foolish king cobra. You made a mistake in bringing in and protecting a little prey." The large lamia kept her glare at the male feline, "Raven is not a prey, and I sure as hell did not make a mistake in protecting her." She looked down at the redbelly with a gentle smile, "She is something worth protecting..."
A chuckle was heard, and Lunar looked up at the jaguar, "Aww.... well ain't that so..."
"DAMN SWEET!!!"
