Waiting for life to change for the better was a wait that could possibly take your whole life; hence the reason I decided to call the number on that card, the one that would lead me to hell.

I have already watched hundreds of people die in just under three days. An inflicted punishment for a mistake I had no control over. Oceans of debt for wanting to live. Rivers of unhappiness shared between me and my little brother.

In these games, my stoic and blank gaze drove people away. I guess I preferred that over placing my trust on an unreliable contender or letting someone place their trust in me; whom won't be able to hold it for long.

I regretted recruiting this girl for my team. Her actions deemed careless and ignorant. Her ignorance coming from a stem of humor from the people around her. She thought this was just a game.

"What's your name?" She uttered from behind me while we walked along the narrow bridge just leaving Tug of War.

"Why do you want to know?" I asked annoyed, not bothering to turn around.

"So I can call you by your name." The sarcasm in her voice making itself obvious. I arched my head back; she was really annoying. "Don't call me then." I ended the conversation in one slick sentence. I heard a scoff and that was it until we got back to the main room.

We were all gathered by Seong Gi-Huns bed as Han Min-Yeo excitedly hollered, explaining how we won. Why did she need to sum it all up? It's not like we would be forgetting it any time soon. My hands were still painted with dried up blood, I don't think they would ever feel clean again.

Ali had spoken up, causing Min-Yeo to finally take notice in him, this was the beginning of a rough patch of chaos. "Are you an illegal alien? Do you even have a visa!?" She yelled at Ali, causing him to look down, ashamed.

I rolled my eyes at her, barely attempting to cover it up by looking back down. The girl behind me shifted.

"What? Do you have a problem with me?" Min-Yeo said in my direction, my eyes quickly looking up to hers in defense.

"No, it's just that, do you really think you're going to survive in here by yelling at your team?" I said quietly, looking at her with the innocent eyes I knew worked. She scoffed and came closer to me, pointing. "You really think you can speak to me like that-" her banter got caught off by the girl behind me, who had been speaking to someone on the bottom stair.

"Are you thanking God for saving us? You think that's how we managed to survive?" She said, referring to the man whispering prayers down below. I hadn't even noticed until now. He continued, completely ignoring the girl.

"Why don't you thank the old man? Or the one that came up with that idea right as we were all going to die-"

"They all paid for our sins! All of us have blood on our hands, can you not hear them screaming!" The man retaliated, mustering up to a yell.

"No, actually. You think whispering a few prayers will get you into heaven? You killed them yourself." She remained calm through the whole conversation, I listened. Hearing her words was like looking at a mirror of myself.  The sarcasm, the attitude. It was a sense of familiarity.

"Dammit! Kids like you will be the fall of this generation."

"Hey boomer, your generation already ruined us."

"Be quiet!" I sighed out, finally having enough of their bickering. Neither of them said anything else, and we all sat in silence. After a while I felt something poking my back. I jumped a little and turned around, only to be met with clueless brown eyes. "What?" She smiled, making me roll my eyes and turn back around.

I felt it again, snapping my head around she sat there and looked at me with her own set of innocent eyes. "You're really annoying." I say, the words not quite intimidating her, yet I felt like they were not meant to.

She smiled, snickering a bit. "I think you're just too serious." I turned back around, allowing myself to watch the timer ahead of us tick down.

I could feel her playing with the ends of my hair, but this time I ignored it. She wanted me to give her attention so I wouldn't.
