I only killed someone for you

"Great! The lack of oxygen messed with her voice as well as her brain!" Han Min-Yeo yelled. At least I thought she was yelling; she tends to talk very loudly.

I tried, with all my will power, not to smile. I couldn't give in to that urge, what she said was a stupid joke. Kang Sae-Byeok does not smile at such things, especially when it comes from a stranger.

"Are you fine?" I asked, purposely making it seem like I couldn't care less.

"Yes, thank you for um... killing that person." Jiyeong's voice sounded confused, but it could also be because she was just almost strangled to death.

I turned around and walked towards my bed. It was a mess like everything in this entire fort thing. I had no intention of sleeping but I needed to be away from the chaos.

"I guess someone pissed in her coffee this morning." Han Min-Yeo tried to whisper. I swear I was about to turn around and punch her face in.

But I kept it calm and collected. How? Not sure.

This bed was actually comfy when you've just gotten the living shit beat out of you.

Of course, some of us had it worse so I should probably stop complaining.

Everyone around me did the same thing and got comfortable in their own beds, but I knew none of us would be sleeping.

My peace got interrupted when I felt the bed's wait shift to the other side. I knew it was Jiyeong, because if it was not, it was someone with a death wish.

"What?" I groaned, trying to keep my voice low in the silence.

"I just wanted to thank you, you know, for not letting me die." Jiyeong sounded like she was joking but I knew it was genuine.

  "You already did."

"Not properly." She argued back. Sighing, I hung my head down, contemplating on what I should respond with.

"It's not a big deal. I only just killed someone for you."

Jiyeong's smile was barely visible in the darkness, but I could still see it like it was the only light in the room.

"Are you mad at me? I promise I didn't purposely almost get killed." She held her hands up in defense, smirking.

Was I mad? Obviously, I was, but at what? Maybe it was the stress caused by Deok-Su and his minions. Or maybe because the only person I would consider talking to in here almost just died in front of my eyes.
