  What the fuck do I do with a single potato?

  "I can't believe they made us do that." Jiyeong said. She sat next to me on one of the beds, staring at her hands like they could somehow distract her from her own grief. Nobody in the room spoke, or really moved for that matter. We had reached our breaking point. 

  For a while I sat there, not knowing how to respond. 

  "Say something." She said. My eyes met hers briefly. "Please, I know you're angry."

  "How do you know I'm angry?" I ask, opting to stare at my hands too. It was strange, talking to anyone but my brother. It felt like she could read my thoughts like they were her own.

  "Because I'm angry." I did not respond to that either. Instead, I let my own inquiries take over the conversation.

  "Who was that? The girl you teamed up with." 

  "My cousin. I walked into the room and saw her. I left you. I'm not sorry though, because I didn't have to go against you." I nodded, stealing another glance in her direction. Her gaze caught mine and we both looked down simultaneously. My face started to heat up in embarrassment.  

  "Do you feel guilty too?" Jiyeong asked me. 

  "Yes, I do." I simply replied, not wanting to expand on my thoughts. Leaning back onto the bed frame, I let my head tilt up and stare at the ceiling. Anything to avoid her brown eyes which seemed to see right through me.

  "I keep telling myself it is not my fault. Yet, it would have been so easy to let them shoot me and not her. There was something telling me I wanted to live."

  I shifted slightly. "What?"

  She shook her head and brought her knees up close to her chest. "I don't know, but clearly I listened to it." 

  "All players line up for dinner. I repeat, all players line up for dinner." The intercom played; my shadow followed me to the line where we got handed a single potato.

  What the fuck am I supposed to do with a single potato?
