‘The baby is Matt’s! Oh my God, it’s Matty’s baby. Thank God!’ Eliese thought to herself as she was shooting over the moon with happiness. She sat in the front seat with the ultrasound photograph in her fingertips. A smile permanently marked her face; her eyes widely examined the photograph in front of her. She stared at her baby, their baby, with a hand flatly caressing the roundness in her top. Doctor Hudson said that the reason she wasn’t showing was because the baby was a bit on the small side, but it was developing just fine. Everything was just fine, Eliese and “baby Busek” were as healthy as a horse. Doctor Hudson told Eliese and Matt that the baby may have just gotten their mom’s small genes and it’s nothing to worry about. The couple made their next appointment for the twenty week ultrasound and picked up the prenatal vitamins Eliese will need.

While Eliese and Matt sat in traffic, there was a small gathering of excited men at Jordon’s house. Dylan picked Emily up when he left to go to Jordon’s house. Matt hasn’t told Dylan anything yet but there’s a chance the guys have told him already. All Matt said was to be at Jordon’s at a certain time. And Dylan did arrive at a certain time, only to be greeted with the surprise that Matt and Eliese were expecting. Dylan was stunned by the news but he was excited for them. He wasn’t at all hurt that they kept it from him, they were going to tell him eventually but the others told him before the expecting parents. But when Emily asked where her mom and Matt were, the guys figured out that they didn’t tell Emily anything yet.

“What if she’s jealous?” Matt voiced his concerns for the future siblings. He had every right to be nervous about Emily becoming an older sister; for ten years she’s been the center of attention, from both Matt and her mother. And now there’s going to be a new baby that’s going to take up most of their attention, as well as Matt touring and Eliese working through getting Nathan to pay child support and getting a restraining order for Andrew.

Eliese sucked on her teeth for a moment. She, too, was worried about Emily’s reaction.

“Well, if she doesn’t like it then she’ll have to get used to it because the baby is here to stay.” Eliese didn’t mean to sound bitter but she was just trying to stay strong. Inside she wanted Emily to be happy but her head knows that Emily is going to be insanely jealous of the baby, especially since the baby is going to be here in mid October which means Emily and Eliese won’t get to spend the summer doing the things they usually do while Emily is on summer break.

“Do you think we should talk about names before I go back on tour on Saturday?” Matt asked curiously. He knew that he wanted the baby to have at least one French name, possibly not Alexis but a French name. Eliese smiled down at the picture, admiring the small picture of the human being growing inside of her.

“We can do that.” She replied contently. Matt smiled over at her, taking his eyes off of the road for a brief second. He nodded once and kept driving to their friend’s house.

When Matt pulled his car into the driveway he saw Dylan’s car parked on the street. Eliese slipped the ultrasound picture back into the small rectangle envelope before she got out of the car. Matt and Eliese walked up to the back gate hand in hand, Emily was waiting for them with a toothy smile. The ten year old girl was excited to see her mom and Matt, even though she talked to them yesterday before School. Emily has been too busy with her social life to see her mom, that and Eliese didn’t want Emily in the house while there was all that turmoil and uncertainty. But now that they know what’s going on, and Eliese won’t be going back on tour with them, Emily was safe to go home.

“Mom!” Emily exclaimed plummeting into her mother’s arms happily. Eliese wrapped her arms around the small girl and brought her into her side to avoid Emily crushing the small bump.  Emily didn’t mind her mother redirecting her hug to be a side hug, as long as she got a simple hug from her mother. Eliese smiled down at Emily and stroked the brown skinned girl’s long dark hair.
