Matt got the next flight leaving Belfast, going anywhere in the states. He didn't want to wait the fourteen hours for the next direct flight to California. After the phone call with his mom, he called their tour manager to tell him what was happening. Not only did Matt publically say he was leaving, he publically began to breakdown. The guys ushered him back to the bus, curious to know what the bloody hell was going on. Matt told them Eliese and Genevieve were in an accident, he wasn't sure what kind but they're in the hospital and his mom told him to get home. Everybody immediately became worried and began phoning home to see if their friends or family knew what was going on. George called Asia to see if she knew what was going on, she didn't. Charlie called his other half, Randi to see what she knew. She knew just as much as they did. Jorel called Vanessa; she didn't even know Eliese was in an accident. The band was prying at everyone they knew for any kind of information about what had happened, but no one knew anything. Matt was desperate to know what had happened to his girlfriend and their baby, but nobody knew anything besides the fact that Eliese and Genevieve were in a serious accident and they were being rushed to the hospital. Vanessa knew though, she found out from Jorel's mom who is friends with Eliese's mom.
Their tour manager bought Matt a plane ticket going to Chicago International Airport then a connecting flight to LA/X. He even cancelled their upcoming shows so everyone could go back to California to be with Eliese and Matt in their time of need.
He didn't even pack his things up and leave; he went back to the bus, grabbed his passport and left for the airport. It was only an eight and a half hour flight then an hour waiting after going through customs and security in Chicago. After that it was a four hour flight from Chicago to Los Angeles.
The flight from Belfast was the most gruelling time of his life. It was worse than the time Charlie had really bad gas while they were on tour last summer. That was a toxic smell, but this way worse. The entire flight was filled with downing coffee to stay awake and the rushing thoughts of what may have happened. Flight attendants were beginning to worry about him. One of them even asked what was wrong. Matt told her that his girlfriend (who was heavily pregnant with their child) had been in an accident and he was headed home to see her. Sympathy rounds of Scotch were on the house for him, courtesy of the flight crew.
When Matt arrived in Chicago, he was blasted by their latest heat wave. Not only was it 92°F but the airport was massive; he had to take a tram from the terminal he arrived in to the one he was leaving in. The entire time he was alone, he couldn't help but let his mind race through the endless possibilities of what happened. He didn't know what kind of accident his girlfriend and their unborn daughter were in but if his mom called him and told him to get home, it must've been horrible. The gruesome images plagued his thoughts, he couldn't think of anything besides what is waiting for him when he arrives home.
Meanwhile, Eliese was lying in the hospital room, connected to IVs and heart monitors. Her entire body ached but she couldn't help the frog-like sobs from hopping inside her chest and the tears scrolling down her bruised and swollen face. Eliese refused to let Emily come in and see her mom in this state, all bloody and bruised. She looked like something from a horror movie, or one of those women in the domestic abuse commercials, the ones where you think they're exaggerating on it just a bit but really, they aren't. It can really be that bad. Eliese's mind settled on the memory of what had happened only hours earlier; it made her chest hop and a flash flood of tears to stream clean rivers down her bloody, bruised and swollen face.
She rubbed the bump in her tank top (that used to be very baggy on her but was now was tight). A smile formed on her face when she felt the little movements under her skin. Eliese wanted to go out for a walk this afternoon but it was far too hot outside to do that while this heavily pregnant, she'll just have to deal with sitting inside and watching television shows about mothers not know who got them knocked up.
