FYI THE PICTURE ABOVE IS NOT MINE BUT I REALLY LIKE IT. It's supposed to be an old picture of Emily and Matty. Just letting you know.
Matty kindly drove Eliese and Emily to Dylan’s after they were released from the hospital. Matty’s head was floating in the clouds with dreamy thoughts. He was told that he was lucky to have such a beautiful daughter by a nurse at the hospital when Emily was released. He's never thought about how often he's been told that until today, he's been told that Emily is his beautiful daughter quite often. Even fans say it. Interviewers will say he must miss his baby girl and he's blown away, how does a grown white man say that a child is not his without sounding like a deadbeat dad? He doesn't; that's why Matty merely laughs and agrees politely. He wonders if one day he'll have the courage to tell people that Emily I isn't actually his daughter. But he couldn't think of how her little heart will break into thousands of pieces, or how she'll stare up at him with chocolate brown eyes and a small hint of betrayal nudging at the corners of her mouth. He wanted to think of Emily the way she was earlier.
Emily was pumped to go to her godfather’s house; it’s been six long months since she’s seen any of them. If they played a couple shows in the U.S or Canada, they’d usually fly her out but for the last six months they’ve been in Europe and Asia playing, and Emily is too young to fly out all that way by herself.
“So, how’s the fourth grade treating you, kid?” George asked from across the glass patio table with an interested tone. He wants to know if Emily has been being bullied again this year, he already knows she has; Eliese told Matty and he told everyone else. But he wants to see if Emily will admit it this year since last year she get it so bad she was being beaten up off School grounds.
Emily shrank into herself as she set the red plastic cup of lemonade down on the table amongst the brown beer bottles. Jorel and Jordon leaned in close to hear what she had to say for herself. Eliese was inside with Matty and Dylan was paying attention to the grill a couple feet away. Aron was MIA though no one really took mind to that. Emily’s brown cheeks hinted with red as she sank into her shoulders. She knew her Uncles were about to give her a speech about standing up against them otherwise they’ll walk all over her.
“The work is hard but the teacher explains it okay.” Emily dodged the bullet like a trooper. Jorel shook his head at her, catching her attention. He gave her a straight but sincere look from under his cap.
“You know that’s not what he meant, now tell us; are those kids bullying you again?” Jorel was very protective over Emily, he may not have kids but George does. He has a daughter, Ava. Emily may be the oldest but she will forever be the baby to them. So when they hear that their baby is getting bullied at School they want to hear it from the horse's mouth.
Emily sank down a bit with humiliation; she was embarrassed by the fact that she has to confide in her Uncles because none of the kids at School are willing to be her friend. At first Emily didn't understand but now she knows. Her Uncles make inappropriate songs and wear masks, her mom was a teen parent and her dad isn’t a part of her life. She is a giant bull’s eye. Who wouldn’t make fun of her? Her Uncles sing about sex, drugs, alcohol, and partying. Her mom works for minimum wage and she hasn't seen her dad in over a year. Emily's life has been a mess since birth.
