"Are you dating anyone?"
I was taken aback by this sudden question, and I replied calmly, "No."
Hyunjin nodded but no words were said anymore after that question as he bit on his straw, instead of drinking through the straw.
I headed back to the counter immediately as another customer came in.
The day went on as per usual and I went to buy a bucket of chicken before heading to Jungkook's apartment.
"You're feeling better?" I asked as I stepped into his apartment.
He hummed and said, "Should be able to move in tomorrow."
I nodded and placed the chicken on the table. His eyes widened and he drooled.
He grabbed the chicken and began eating hungrily. He ate it in such a messy way I felt disgusted. I shook my head and went to go take a shower in his bathroom. I changed and stepped into the dark hallway. At the end, I could sense was Jungkook reading his book under a lamp. I walked, my feet giving a squeaking sound as I stepped on the floorboard.
"I best get going." I announced, grabbing my bag and coat before waving him goodbye.
I walked home in a dark alley. I wish I didn't. that night, was the best regret of my life.
Footsteps copied mine and they echoed through the alley. I sensed a presence behind me. Fear crawled to me. What now? No one was around except for a fierce stray cat. I quickened my footsteps and the stranger behind me did the same. I decided there was only one thing I could do. Run. And I did. I started cursing at myself in my mind at how I didn't practise running as the moment I ran, the person caught up to me and covered a hand around my mouth while his other grabbed my torso and pulled me towards him.
I screamed but it was muffled. I kicked but it was useless. I struggled to free myself from his grasp but it seemed impossible. I tried to wriggle my arms but to no success.
BAM!!
A loud noise was heard behind me and his arms were removed from me. I turned around and saw the stranger now on the ground, unconscious. His face was red and I was assuming he was drunk. I looked up. Minho. He was holding a baseball bat. And the little light from the moon shone onto his face, making him look attractive as he stood before me, a baseball bat over his shoulder.
"Thank you." I muttered, bowing.
He looked at me with a poker face. "You shouldn't be here at night. Let me walk you home."
I nodded sheepishly and agreed. unlike those romantic Korean dramas where the male would walk next to the female and they're hands would brush and look at each other in their eyes, my fairy-tale, mine wasn't anything like a girl would dream of.
Instead, he walked behind me from afar, making sure I reached home. '
I finally reached and turned to thank him, but he was gone. I opened the door and walked in, revealing a mum who was sitting on a barstool, drinking the night away. Empty drink bottles were scattered all over the counter.
She didn't notice me enter and kept on drinking and drinking.
"Oh Sana is home!" she squealed, glancing at the doorway.
I frowned and shook my head in disappointment. I couldn't do anything now honestly. I walked towards my room but my mum sat me down on the barstool next to her.
"Yes?" I asked, impatient.
"Here." She handed me a full soju bottle.
What?!?!
"No, I'm underaged mum."
She kept protesting on and on but soon, she collapsed onto the floor. I didn't bother to call the ambulance cause I ain't going to spend my money to pay her bills if she's alright and going to wake up find the next morning.
The next day, Jungkook moved back in and I went to school, knowing that I had a lot to thank him for.
"Minho-ah, thanks for yesterday." I said, when I caught up to him.
He ignored me, acting as if it never happened. I scoffed and angrily stormed to my locker. I said thank you, shouldn't he at least reply?!?!
