Love Valentina:
It’s still dark. Really dark. That’s all I can register at the moment. The grass is still about twenty feet high, and I can barely make my way through it.
I guess it’s meant to be dark, it is night. At least I assume it’s night, the faces were just in the sky.
The first face meant really nothing at all to me. It was just that smart-ass and bitchy girl from Saint Patrick’s District. Didn’t know her, didn’t need to care about her death.
Cupid, the other boy from my District was also killed. I would know that, I guess I was the one who killed him. Don’t know how I should feel about that.
But the third face in the sky for some reason means something; Epthemus Ash. I mean, I’m pretty sure I hated him. But I couldn’t shake the gut wrenching feeling when I saw his face in the sky. It just doesn’t fit.
Something inside of me just makes me sad when I think about it. I continue to make my way through the oversized grass, using the arrow I stole to chop it down. It’s tedious, and it’s boring, but getting the grass down is important. It’s also hard considering I’m barely five feet.
Suddenly a small voice speaks up. It’s unrecognizable and I have no idea where it’s coming from. Walking towards where I believe it’s coming from, I keep listening. It’s quiet and small voice. Probably from a younger tribute.
In the dark all I can see is the small gleam in his eyes and lots and lots of blood. He’s a boy, and an obviously young one too.
He’s trying to speak, but I can’t make out a single word of it. It just sounds like a huge mess of mumbles and grunts. Obviously he’s in pain, and about to die any second, so I decide to help him. I kneel besides the young boy and pour a drop or two of my poison into one of his larger wounds. At first he howls in pain, and shrieks a bit, but soon calms down and stops shaking. Within the next minute a cannon fires.

I don’t realize it when it first happens, but the grass is surely shrinking down now. Slowly, but surely. This causes a bright smile to break out over my face and I skip through the shrinking grass hoping for the bright sun to be out as well. However, I don’t exactly find sun. Instead I find several bright orange leaves falling from tall trees, and the smell of smoke tickles my nose. Fire!
Vinella Cola’s evil but happy face sits in the sky with a proud smile. “Better find shelter…Hmmmmm, I wonder where it is!” And with that her cackling face disappears from the sky.
Shit!
I make a mad dash for the first place that comes to mine, the Cornucopia. However the thought doesn’t make me feel any better. The Cornucopia is probably where everybody else is heading, well at least all the people with sense.
As I run the flames somehow remind me of Epthemus. The dark and overwhelming smoke from the flames like his black and charcoal hair. He would’ve been good at this, being use to fire and all.
“Fuck!” I cry as I trip over a rock. My hand scrapes on a twig as I try to break my fall. There’s no time for me to care and I hop up again, running even faster now.
Where the hell is the Cornucopia!? My feet keep going in some odd direction, but I don’t seem to be heading towards the Cornucopia.
“Aaaaahhhh!” I shout when I almost run into a burning tree. I sprint away and don’t even look where I’m going until I somehow find the shining golden horn. I’m almost there when I feel someone push me forcefully into the metal. “Ouch!”
I have no idea who it is, but I decide it’s a boy when the strategy of kicking them in the crotch works. He falls to the ground howling in pain. He’s obviously from the Saint Patrick’s district, because he has gingery orange hair and an oversized beard.
“Nice try Leprechaun!” I say, and forcefully stab my arrow into his neck. Once it’s impaled, I use my magic and send a jolt straight into his neck. He howls in pain and sure enough a cannon fires. I look around hoping to find Etta or Rubyn anywhere. It seems a little odd at first, because there doesn’t appear to be anyone here at all.
Which means there’s probably someone behind me. I jolt around and sure enough there’s the Halloween boy sprint towards me with some sort of weapon. It’s a scythe I think. He jolts into me and knocks me off of my feet. Using all the strength I have in my short body I find a way to get him off balance, causing him to crash into the ground. I try to grab his scythe, but he’s quicker and grabs it first. He swings at me but I get out of the way and pounce on him. There’s no way to tell what happens, but somehow the scythe digs into his neck and his crimson blood stains the grass. I exhale and stand up, and sig the weapon out of his neck. It was obviously more suited for someone his size and is a bit too big for me, but it’ll have to do.
And to my delight, it’s pretty sharp. I find this out when some hotshot 12 year old thinks he can kill me with an Easter egg. After he falls to the ground dead another egg lands about five feet away from me and explodes. But not a real explosion, a very small explosion. It doesn’t even get close to me at all. I look up and see a pretty blonde girl who looks very pissed. She hisses and runs towards me, an egg in her hand. Her eyes are filled with pure venom and she growls like a beast as she runs towards me. However I use this scythe and chop her head clean off.
I lean over and take a quick breath. But apparently not quick enough, because I feel a sharp prick in my shoulder and howl in pain. My head flings around and the quiet girl from Halloween stands behind me. The two of us try to take a blow at one another for a few seconds, but eventually I get her in the chest with the scythe.
The last kill I make is some random kiddie. By now, I can’t be bothered to remember his name, age or district. All there is to him at the moment is how young he is and that he’s a boy. And that he’s now dead.
I’m drenched in blood, and I feel undoubtedly tired. It’s time to take a rest.

Somehow I manage to come across a pond. Sighing with relief I step into the cool water. A few strokes of red dance in the water after a few seconds, but the blood eventually come off. I lay in the damp grass around the water and manage to smile. The sun’s shining, and now there are less people I have to deal with.
“Hey there she is!” “Love, are you okay!?”
I look up and smile at Rubyn and Etta. “Of course I’m okay! It’s such a lovely day.”
“Yeah…” Rubyn starts, “I guess it is…” “A lot of people just died.” I say.
“No, really?” Etta replies sarcastically, and then huffs. “Epthemus being one of them.”
“And one of our District Partners.” Rubyn says, and sits beside me.
“Yes, indeed. But I’m more upset about Epthemus.”
