FINAL - 211212

Many years ago, when man was still fresh and new to this earth, fragmented across the globe and untroubled by the wars and weapons that would eventually bring it to its knees, a civilization made a prophecy that, thousands of years later, was to haunt and amuse people.

They predicted that, long after they were driven away from their homes and the land claimed by invaders, on the night of the winter solstice, the world would be engulfed in flames and drenched in floods, leaving nobody alive and the earth clean, ready for a fresh start.

They were wrong.

After all, life must go on.

Right?

The image that follows the faces of the dead onto the sky is dark and grainy, a change from the crisp professional shots that the tributes have been subjected to so far. To some of the tributes it feels like the ground is shaking, though that may just be exhaustion.

"The final four!" announces the hushed voice of Alithia Warwell, "Listen, and listen well. Things are... Vibius and Vinella have decided that they are sick of this. They've given the word for the arena to be destroyed...with you still in it."

The ground is definitely shaking now.

A face flickers into view before vanishing again; it looks scared.

"Some of my arena staff have planted a safe spot around the Christmas tree, where you can be transported out of the arena. Hurry up and get there, before the others realise and shut it down...may the odds be ever in your favour!"

The screen flickers and dies, and thunder rolls over the snow.

It looks like the Gamemakers are not going to let this end without a bang.

Well, it's the finals!

Your task is simple: write what happens to your tribute as the arena is destroyed. You can write anything, as long as it comes under this bracket.

When you have sent it to Author_Games (via PM), please PM me on RobotsWillCry so I know for sure what order they were sent in.

At the deadline - THURSDAY 8TH MARCH, 11:00 (at night) UK TIME - I will start posting the entries. They will be posted on separate chapters, in order of receiving, with a fifteen minute difference in between.

There is no word limit, but keep it reasonable, please.
