We rode back to Labri on horseback, thankfully this time on separate horses. Petaine was much faster than Turak's horse, which I assumed was named Sonuka. Petaine was having the time of his life, galloping like there's no tomorrow.
We arrived back at the town square and, handed over our horses to Turak's stable boy, who took them to the makeshift paddock where all the villagers from Kotra ' s horses were.
Turak grabbed my hand and lead me to where our parents were talking.
"Oh don't you look lovely!" my mother complemented running over to give me a hug.
"Yes, finally good so see my daughter all grown up!" my father said. I smiled, a fake smile. He was finally happy to see me all grown up? Now that I had been forced to marry a man to save my father's reputation and my village people, I've finally grown up? The only person around here who needs to grown up is Father.
"Come now, Nemeria stop looking to glum enjoy the party this is all for you." my mother said. This only dampened my spirit even more. I didn't want people celebratingg because of this. I didnt want all this attention, I wanted to be left alone.
I didn't want to be in the crowd, I didn't want people's congratulations. I wanted to get away, I wanted to get on to Petaine and run away. I had always dreamed of exploring the world on the other side of the mountains, I always dreamed of running away with Yasitu. But now my dreams were crushed. I was now expected to be Turak's wife and bear his children and live with him forever and ever.
I slipped out from the crowd, eventually finding my way back to my house, I looked around to make sure no one was following me.I headed towards the stables, stepping carefully trying to not make a sound. I didn't want people to know that I was leaving. I didn't want Turak to know that I was gonna try run away.
"Where are you going? " A sudden voice startled me. I spun around to face the person and the familiar blue eyes of Yasitu stared back at me.
"Yasitu, w - what are you doing here? " I asked trying to avoid his question.
"I could ask you the same thing. Shouldn't you be enjoying your party? You wouldn't want to leave your husband all alone now would you?" he fired questions at me.
"Why should I tell you, you've been ignoring me ever since I told you I was gonna get married! Do you think I wanted this? Do you think I would of done this if I had a choice?" I shouted, tears running down my face. I wanted to scream that I love him not Turak but no matter how many times I told him, he would always act like he never heard me.
"Nemeria, Don't blame me for this, It's not my fault that you don't love him! That's your own problem to sort out!"
"It is your fault! It is your fault because I love you! I always have, but you are to blind to see it!" I screamed.
He just stared at me. He was doing it again acting like he didn't hear a word he said. He grabbed me by the arm and pulled me around the side of the stable, where we were completely out of sight. He pulled me closer and grabbed my face and pressed his lips to mine. He kissed me. I had dreamed of him kissing me, never this way, never with me crying. He pulled away and looked straight into my eyes.
"I do love you Nemeria. " he said, and the he kissed me again.
Turak appeared from the side of the stable.
What do you think you are doing?" shouted Turak pulling Yasitu off me. He punched Yasitu in the jaw. He crumpled to the floor. Yasitu swung his legs around his legs bashing into Turak's causing him to fall forward. He grabbed, Turak by the hair and yanked him up, punching him in the gut.
"Stop!" I screamed. I didn't want them to fight, Yasitu could get into serious trouble. "Stop please just stop!"
Turak shoved Yasitu onto the ground and climbed on top of him, and punched him in the face repeatedly. Blood gushed out of Yasitu's nose, and blood trickled out of a cut that had formed on Turak's cheek.
"Don't even touch her!" Turak shouted. Yasitu pushed him off.
"You don't even love her!" Yasitu shouted.
My father and Turak's father appeared out of nowhere and pulled the two apart. I couldn't breath, my head was swirling. All i could see was Turak and Yasitu struggling against the grips of their father's wanting to kill each other, over me, over me.
I lost my balance, even though I was standing still and fell onto my back, hitting the floor with such force, everything went black.
