I wrapped a green silk scarf around my neck. A gift from Turak's mother. The afternoon chill had crept over the village and this was definitely the wrong time to get sick. I headed over to the village square where I was hoping to find my mother. We needed to talk.
I found her helping another woman pack out fruit for the festival tonight.
"Oh Nemeria there you are, why don't you help me with the apples." She said handing me a large woven basket full of apples.
"Mother can i have a word with you first?" I asked. My mother looked down for a few seconds with a frown on her face and then she looked up and smiled.
"Of course darling." She said. She pulled me away so we could talk away from the other women."Father told me Yasitu no longer works for him. Do you know why." My mother's face hardened at the mention of Yasitu.
"That is only your Fathers business. I suggest you respect his judgement he is the Chief of our village. Now why don't you get started on those apples," She said so stern it scared me. Why was she standing up for father, there is definitely something that I don't know about.
I couldnt stop that sinking feeling that was inside me. I hated being lied too. I started to unpack the apples onto a large wooden table, set out in the middle of the village square. A few other girls were also unpacking fruits from the harvest. During Harvest Festival we only eat grapes, apples, strawberries, sun baked bread and pork. Usually, the youngest piglet from the pig farmers would be slaughtered as part of the celebration and cooked on a spit over a fire. The younger children will find out the true meaning of this celebration tonight when Father tells us the Legend of Labri.
After i finished unpacking the basket of apples and arranged them carefully onto the table, i headed to the water well, to get some water. I think mother was in need of some water at home to boil ,to use to wash up for Festival tonight. I picked up the wooden pail and dunked into into the well. I pulled it up full with water and set it on the ground next to the well. I turned around, and in the distance a familiar face caught my eye. Yasitu was standing behind a tree gazing deep in thought at something i cant quite tell what. He doesn't seem to notice my staring.
I looked away and grabbed the pail and headed back to my house. Mother was already putting pieces of wood into the fire pit.
"Oh thank you Nemeria just what I needed." Mother said, taking the pail from me and setting it on top of the fire to heat up. She spoke as if our conversation earlier never happened. I was definitely talking to the wrong people. I need to talk to Yasitu, but i haven't talked him since the celebration. (Remember she can't remember the fight, or when Yasitu kissed her.)
" Would you like to wash up first?" My mother asked me.
"Ok." I said. My mother took my hand and lead me to my room. On my bed was a beautiful jade green dress, it was made of a velvet material, Mother must if paid a fortune to get this.
"Oh Mother it's beautiful." I smiled. I engulfed my mother in a hug.
"Come now darling the water should be warm now, you should get washed up festival starts soon.
"Yes mother. "

Okay I know this took forever but even though I've planned this story I just couldn't get a productive chapter out. But then I finally got some writing spunk and wrote this chapter in one go. I know it's a filler but it's just leading up to the Festival, the festival will be the whole of the next chapter, you will get some Nemeria- Yasitu convo. And Nemeria father is going to reveal the legend of Labri since the villagers of Kotra don't know the story of why they do Festival.School has been killing me. My school days are completely different to America, we don't have long summer holidays just a month holiday from December to January( our summer holidays) and then the new school year starts so, while everyone in the northern regions were having sumer I was stuck with winter. :/
Okay this A/N is way too long. Bye
