"Seriously Jack, we should have turned at the last exit."
The couple sat bickering to one another, they were on their first road trip together as a married couple. Who wouldn't love to travel with their significant other?
"We could possibly cut through and get back on the road going this way, don't worry, we will be fine."
Evelyn sat leaning against the car window with her palm on her cheek, hitting herself slightly with the car going over rocks, making the car jump.
She admired nature at night. You could barely see anything but it was there.
Turning the corner, the headlights captured a sign. "Welcome to Dungrove?" Jack slowly said, looking from the sign back to his navigator. "Hm. Strange?" He frowned.
"What is it?" Evelyn looked over in his direction as he slowed the car down, "The map says it's just a bunch of trees."
They both read the welcoming sign again with a frown. They were both as confused as each other, "Let's just quickly pass through, it must be some abandoned village," Jack said, starting the car again.
As they reached buildings, the lights were out and it clearly wasn't a village, it was a town.
"I don't understand. Look at this place, why isn't this on the map?" Evelyn searched houses that could have their lights on but every single one was pitch black.
They both started to feel uncomfortable. Something didn't feel right for either of them.
Jack was about to drive faster until the headlights picked up a shadow standing in front of the car. He instantly braked feeling something hit the car.
"What the fuck?" He yelled, "Please be a deer," he begged, getting out of the car.
Evelyn sat in silence, still shocked by the impact of what just happened.
Silent.
Why was it silent?
Evelyn became curious. As she slowly unbuckled her seatbelt a bloody hand reached for the window with Jack's face coming into view.
Evelyn let out a horrific scream quickly getting out of the car. She ran over to the other side of the car and helped him up from the road as he suddenly collapsed.
"W-What's going on?" She stuttered. Blood was gushing from his neck as he choked for words. She tried to apply pressure onto it as she couldn't tell how big of a wound he had.
"Run." A voice appeared in her mind. Evelyn looked around to see nobody in sight.
"Don't worry, I'll get help," Evelyn kisses her husband one last time before leaving him on the road.
She ran to the car to get her phone and quickly dialled for emergency services.
"Hel-
The line went dead.
"No." She gasped for air, "This can't be happening."
"Hello? Oh my! Are you guys okay?" A woman came walking over to us.
"Please, is there any emergency services around this place? My husband he's-"
"Dead." The woman heavily breathed, "He's dead." She repeated with a smirk.
Chills could only describe how Evelyn felt. She felt her blood run cold. The woman began to take closer steps to Evelyn as she took steps back.
"My my, don't be frightened. My partner did a great job with your man. Now it's my turn, I'm feeling very hungry today." She spat as fangs grew from her mouth.
Evelyn stood in horror. She had just witnessed something abnormal. "What is this place?" She yelled, scared out of her mind.
She finally started to run. She ran and ran until it was too late. She couldn't outrun a vampire. It was impossible.
"Are we done here, Hannah? I've got better things to do." Lucas slowly approached her as she wiped the remained blood from her mouth.
"You go ahead, I'll join you when I'm finished." They both stood inches away from each other.
"Don't worry my love, we are only getting started." Lucas mumbled, offering his hand for Hannah to take, "Fine, let's go."
