"I'm getting married," I announce once Katie and I sit in our spot, a dark corner far from others in the teachers lounge. "Well, not technically married or engaged yet but-"
"What!" She exclaims, getting all the teachers' attention. I grimace looking away as I open my lunch box.
Katie still has her mouth wide open, gasping loudly as she looks at me up and down.
"Married?" She seethe, her jaw still hanging, "I'm your best-friend I'm supposed to like know this first thing." She scoffs, getting herself together as she opens her brown lunch bag. Till this day, she doesn't bother getting getting lunch box cause we're not in school anymore. We'll news flash we are! As teachers!
"If you're gonna be grumpy I won't give you any of my fruits," I threaten, watching pick her peanut butter sandwich. I am like a mother to her. Making sure she eats fruits and vegetables. No get me wrong. She's no child.
"Bitch, you probably have another child to look after now," Katie's comments her dazzling brown eyes looking anywhere else.
My hearts stung uncomfortably as we eat in silence. I love Katie. So fucking much so to her this makes me feel a thousand more shit.
"I didn't know until a few days ago," I reason after a long awkward silence (we are known at this school for being loud gossipers), "what I mean is that I knew I was getting married someday- no I was arranged to get married someday- since I was 16. His name was Adrian Parker but now it's not him. It's Angel Quinn."
Katie finally looks at me. She has peanut butter stains on the corner of her lips. That was a distraction from the fact that she scoffs again, avoiding my eyes again.
"Adrian Parker is an old man. The wrinkly grey hair white man!" I exclaim hoping to get some support from her. "Angel Quinn is... well.... his... a-a-attractive," I stuttered, looking away for a moment.
My stuttering definitely caught her attention. I feel her penetrating gaze on me, watching me under a telescope as I see Adam and Luca talking. Luca glances over to me a worried help me plastered on his face. I shrug.
"That sounds familiar," Katie clears her throat.
"Really?" I ask, relaxing my shoulders as I slide my lunchbox towards her. She accepts, popping a grape into her mouth.
"Yeah, isn't he famous or something? His names sounds something a celebrity would have." Katie ramble on, popping multiple grapes at a time.
"Right..." I trial on, shaking my head to shake Angel out of my thoughts. Him and Seth.
"He has a bodyguard named Seth." I announced randomly. I don't know why I feel compelled to tell her this. I mean, it's an obligation now.
"Seth." The name rolled beautifully on her tongue. "Is he hot too?"
I nodded frantically. Is it just me or I can openly admit Seth is hot but not Angel?
"If you see them side by side-both Angel and Seth I mean- it's a like wet dream in real human form. There'd be a flood between your legs," I say, smiling unintentionally as my heart beat start picking up its speed.
"Shit!" Katie yelps, "sounds like you're speaking from experience." She comment smirking and chuckling a little.
"I only met them once" I retaliate, "after my parents don't sell me out then I'll never see them again."
Katie nods anyways, clearly not convinced with my thought patterns but supports me with my feelings about them. I fill her in Tammie mission to remind me of the men. Always sending pictures of them. Most aren't innocent, the journey as far as nude (in any conservative mind but an art form on my opinion) making this affair moreso a sex thing whereas my marriage is in exchanges for money.
