This chapter is a meh for me :/

My day dreams are coming true. Well, sort off. I have met a man and we've arranged dinner.

I spend Saturday morning searching my dress and shoes with Katie in tow, getting that girls trip we desperately needed after lasts week's report rush. She's happy today, smiling big and insisted that Luca doesn't join us and it should be just us. I try to match her energy, keeping my focus on her, linking my arms with her- never seems to let go because let's face it, I'm going have to sooner then later.

We went to one last clothing shop before the movies, Katie really taking her time as she places dresses upon dresses on my arms as my thoughts races far from reality. Angel and Seth corrupts my mind to no end, images of them sensually loving me with the same love as God has for us. It's really far stretched. A marriage with no trials because we wouldn't always be together. Despite marriage being the declaration of two people in love coming together as a union, in that same holy wedding night- to give yourself to each other...I would never experience that. I don't know if what I'm feeling is pure attraction or I'm too in love with love to notice any red signs. Would I stay a virgin for the duration of our marriage?

"Jalah!" Katie nudges my arm, getting my attention as exhale loudly, slowly feeling blood rush all over my body. "You were lost for a long time, mate," she smiles softly, forcing me to look deep into her eyes. That when I notice the mountain of clothes on my arms. They burn. A lot.

"Katie... the clothes?"

She grabs my wrist taking me to the nearest empty changing room and I dump them on the small bench in front if the mirror. Katie locks the door by the time I sit down and she turns around with her hands on her hips.

"Are you okay?" She questions, frowning and pursing her lips. "Cause the whole trip I noticed you weren't listening and dazed off to fairy land of something. I mean what's up with you?"

I sigh deeply, glancing behind me to look at myself.

"I just...find it suspicious that he wants dinner with me tonight, " I mutter under my breath. "It means that mum and dad already said something and I'm... going to be sold... married... engaged..."

Katie drops her arms to her sides.

"Can't you say no if he does propose?" She questions, showing dresses to the side and seats next to me, her knees touching mine.

"I'm not sure about that." I loop my arm around hers and place my head on her shoulders, "my parents worked hard to provide for me and this is technically prophesied, written in the law really. So, it's fair for me to be the rent and bills."

Katie heavily sighs, I can her heart beating so fast as she snakes her hand through mine.

"You're a human though," she argues, placing her head on top of mine, "I mean sure Mr Parker paid for your bills and rent in exchange for you but to ask for marriage? Why can't you work for him, ya know be a maid for three years or shit."

"It's out of my control," I voiced my mother's words from last night after Katie had left, "I should be at least grateful that I lasted until I finished Uni and have a stable job."

"That doesn't mean shit," Katie raises her head up, "you're a fucking being. A damn adult even! You have to say no."

I peel my head and body away from Katie. She stands up, her leg bouncing up and down as she exhales heavily.

"It's not that simple Katie, " I whisper, looking down to avoid her eyes and close my eyes as the image of Angel burns my mind. "The only reason my family has lived lavishly is because Mr Parker offered to pay the bills in exchange of me. So I have to pay my dues...my family's dues." I open my eyes.
