Kylie (POV) :
Beep, beep beep
I opened my eyes, to only shut them again against the suns bright glare. It was Tuesday morning and my alarm clock had just gone off to wake me up. I needed to be in the coffee shop by 6:00 to start the day. I pulled myself out of bed and dragged myself towards my wardrobe picking out the first thing I could get my hands on.
After I was dressed I turned to face my mirror behind me, I wasn't beautiful but I wasn't ugly ether. I suppose I was just average. In high school I was never interested in boys. They didn't seem very interested in me either, that is until college. In college I was the popular girl the one every girl envied. And i had worked for it. Yep! You guessed it, I had been that girl who slept with all the guys, who went to all the parties, who got trashed every weekend. No, I wasnt proud but I thought maybe it would make me happy. You'd think being the girl all of the boys liked would be a good thing but your wrong. I had no real friends that i could actually trust they were all just fake and after my popularity. It also just brought on heartbreak after heartbreak. I used to think love could make me happy. But after a while I ended up forgetting about all of that because it only made things worse.
You'd always end up loosing the person you loved. In my case anyway.
I got set on my morning routine, started making the coffee, filled all the machines up and took the cakes and biscuits I had prepared last night out and set them in the window.
Then sat down sipping sweet hot chocolate and eating buttered toast. It was just another normal Tuesday.
Bring bring bring...
I looked up and smiled.
"Marlo! Your back from Holland, how was it?" I cried running up to hug my best friend. Marlo had been my best friend ever since I had moved here to start up my coffee shop.
He had found a love for my biscuits and my legendary chocolate fudge cake, and soon became a regular customer. Somehow he evolved into being my best friend. He travels a lot though. He finds other countries and their cultures fascinating, and dreams of seeing the world. To be honest I have no doubt that he probably will of done by the time he dies.
"Hey Kylie, missed you hun and yes thanks it was great I prefer brazil to it though (the trip he made last month) how have you been here in California then?"
"Umm... great! Bit boring though." I said smiling up at him. He had blonde wavy hair sweeping across his face naturally and bright light blue eyes. He was a loveable character and I don't know what i would do without him.
"Any boys on the scene?" he casually fitted into the conversation, raising a eyebrow and smirking down at me.
I gave him a 'really? Did you just ask that question look.'
He instantly rolled his eyes saying, "don't even know why I bother asking."
What I didn't know was that this normal average day was the day before my life changed forever.
