Danielle's Point of View
It's been six long years since my divorce from Brandon, and I must say it was difficult at first, but like the saying goes, "time heals all wounds," and I can agree that statement was true for me.
After the judge granted me two hundred million and the house in the divorce settlement, I left the courtroom and never looked back. I made peace with myself right then and there, determined to heal from everything and focus on bettering myself. I'm worth more, and I will treat myself as such.
I sold the house and moved to New York for a fresh start. I finally put my business degree to use and started my own advertising agency. Things started out kind of rocky, but now my business has become a corporate powerhouse. My company is one of the top advertising agencies in the country.
Funny how God can close one door and open another for you. Life has really changed for me. I have come a long way from being the weak, devoted housewife to becoming a fierce, strong businesswoman. Not to mention, I have a new man in my life, Austin King, CEO of King Industries.
Austin and I met during one of my business meetings. His company had developed a new phone app and was looking for a suitable advertising agency to promote the launch of the software. I'll never forget how nervous I was just to meet him.
Flashback
(Two years ago)
I was sitting at my office desk, going over company offers and advertisement logos from my marketing team, when there was a knock at my door.
"Come in," I said.
Hailey, my assistant and friend, walked in with more company reports and a briefing for the upcoming meeting with Mr. King.
"Hey, Ms. Brooks, I've got the company reports you asked for, and also some files that need your signature."
"Ms. Brooks now, is it? Look at you sounding all professional. I told you to call me Danielle," I laughed.
"I know, I have to get used to calling you that, it's going to take some getting used to. I also wanted to inform you of the upcoming meeting with Mr. King at one p.m."
"Yeah, I was just going over the advertising proposal he wanted for his company."
"I heard he's very difficult to appease, even worse than his father."
"So I've heard, but I have faith in our team that we're going to get the account. We're the best at what we do. Did you set up the refreshments and have the reports ready for the meeting? I want to make sure everything is ready."
"Yes, everything is ready and prepared in the conference room."
"Alright, it's showtime, let's get going, don't want to be late."
As Hailey and the rest of the marketing team arrived in the conference room, in walked this god of a man, standing six-foot-four, with a mocha brown complexion, an athletic, muscular build, and a black tailored Armani suit. He was so fine I had to squeeze my thighs to keep the tsunami from flowing between my legs. I couldn't think straight just being in proximity to him.
As he walked closer to me, I could smell his cologne. Damn, he smelled amazing. I had to give myself a mental reality check. Alright, Danielle, get your s**t together and don't make a fool of yourself. You need this account to expand your company, I reminded myself as I mentally scolded my thoughts.
When I snapped out of it, the sex god was standing right in front of me. When our eyes met, it was like time stood still and everyone else disappeared. I finally found my voice to speak.
