After school, Madelyn dropped Maverick off to his dad at the studio. Paul was waiting on him in the lobby. He followed the older man up to his dad's office to discuss everything. Paul had the contract already drawn up and it included all of Analise's medical bills being paid and then a lump sum of money for them to sign over all rights to the baby if it was Maverick's child. It was going to have to be signed prior to them knowing the results of the DNA.
They went up to the hospital to have the agreement signed and notarized. Marshall had allowed Paul to just take Maverick and have it done. He knew that the man would not allow anything bad to happen to his son.
Her parents signed the agreement and she did as well. She just wanted to be done with the whole thing. She had refused to even see the baby. She lit up momentarily when Maverick entered the room but it faded when she realized that he just wanted her to sign the papers and leave him alone. He wanted the results so he could determine how to handle everything.
"When do we get the results of the test?" Analise asked.
"Why?" her mother asked.
"I just want to be done. I want to go home. But I want to know what his name is going to be too."
Maverick looked at Paul. He nodded.
"The results are in already. I can give them to you now," Paul said.
"Really?" she asked.
"Yes, I picked them up as we came in."
"Please?"
"Mave, you good with knowing?"
Maverick nodded. He was ready to know even though his parents weren't with him. He was nervous about it but he wanted to know what was going on and what would happen to the baby. He stared at Paul for a moment.
"Mave, you are the father," he said.
Analise smiled.
"I told you," she said.
"So his name is Mason Blayde Mathers," Maverick said.
He left the room to let the nurses know and to call his parents. Realization dawned on her parents after Paul followed him from the room. He had the paperwork in hand and gave a copy to the nurses. He also went to electronically file it with the courts. It was a legally binding contract. Maverick stared at his phone as he leaned against the wall.
"What's wrong bud?" Paul asked.
"How do I tell my parents?" he asked.
"Mave, they already know that it's a possibility and it's all right. They are going to support you no matter what. Your mother will probably spoil that baby like crazy like she does the other grandkids."
"I'm nervous about it though."
"Well go see the baby and then call them."
Maverick nodded. Paul followed him to the nursery. He handed the results to the nurse and she nodded. She showed Maverick to the incubator that held the baby boy. He stared down at the baby and sighed.
"You can hold him, it would do him some good for a parent to hold him," she said.
"His mother didn't hold him at all?" Maverick asked.
"No, she hasn't wanted anything to do with him. We have been bottle feeding him. He is just about due. Would you like to feed him?"
Maverick nodded. She smiled.
"I'm going to go get it ready," she said.
"I'm gonna call your parents," Paul told him.
Maverick nodded. He was sitting in a rocking chair with the baby in his arms. He stared at his little boy, still unable to believe that this child was really his. He was glad to know that the baby would grow up loved now though. He didn't have to worry about that. He took a picture of the baby and sent it to Ella. He was worried about what she would say though.
