Maverick walked in after school, looking for his father. Marshall was downstairs watching a movie with his wife. She glanced over when their son burst thru the door. The two of them rarely got time together because of Marshall working and dealing with other artists.

"Dad, can we talk?" he asked.

"Can it wait until after this movie?" Marshall asked him.

"No."

"All right, hang on."

Madelyn sighed. Marshall kissed the side of her head and got up from his seat. He walked up the stairs to talk to his son.

"What's up bud?" he asked.

"She literally was in every single one of my classes," Maverick said.

"Ok, so what did they do about it?"

"I got moved to an entirely new schedule. I don't have any classes with Ella anymore either though."

"Well son, I don't know what you want me to do about it."

"It's crap that I have to have an entire new schedule when she's the new kid. She did this on purpose and it's crap."

"Maverick, the policy the school has is that because you have the issue you are the one that has to change classes."

"Dad, it's not fair."

"I will see what I can do in the morning."

"Ok."

"Now can I get back to my movie with your mother?"

"Yeah, sorry dad."

Marshall nodded. He went back to the theater room with his wife. She looked up at him as he entered the room. He rolled his eyes and pulled her back into his arms.

"What's his problem?" she asked.

"His schedule got changed this morning and he doesn't like it," he said.

"Why did it get changed?"

"He had every single class with Analise."

Madelyn shook her head. It annoyed her that they had changed his school to avoid things like this and now it was following him. She looked at her husband. He shook his head.

"We can't solve everything for him, mama," he said.

"The hell I can't. That's my baby and I will not allow someone to make his life hell when we moved him from the previous school because of these kids. I will not have his life uprooted for one girl who is new to the school." Madelyn replied.

"Mads, we can't always pick up the pieces. Mave is 15. He is going to have to start learning that the real world is shit."

She made a face at her husband. He chuckled.

"I know, you're going to do whatever you want about this situation aren't you?" he asked.

"Of course I am. That's my baby and I will do what is best for him," Madelyn replied.

"All right."

Madelyn kissed her husband's cheek and settled back in to watch the movie with him. He pulled her close to him.

The next day, Madelyn made her way to the school office. She wasn't there for long before Maverick's classes were all changed back to the way they were and Analise had an entire new schedule that was not any of Maverick's classes. She stepped out into the Detroit air and made her way back to her car. She called Marshall to let him know what had happened.

"Hey handsome," she said.

"Hey mama," he replied.

"How is your morning going?"

"It's good. Yours?"

"All taken care of. Mave is back with his normal classes and she isn't in any of them. I gave them a quick reminder of how much money we spend on this damn school and how quickly it could all be gone."

"Madelyn Nicole Mathers."

"Don't scold me like one of our children."

"You are something else woman."

"You know it, love."

He chuckled.

"Where are you now?" he asked.

"Leaving the school. Where are you?" she replied.

"Just walking in the house."

"I will meet you there soon. We have a meeting with our bedroom."

Marshall laughed. She drove home. He was waiting for her in their room when she walked in the house. She grinned at him. Even though they were both getting older, they were definitely taking care of themselves now. Marshall felt he had done enough damage to himself when he was first involved in the industry. He was doing whatever he could to be able to see all of his children graduate from high school and go on to have families of their own. They deserved a father there all the time.

"You ok babe?" Madelyn asked, as they lay on their bed together afterward.

Her head was rested on his chest. He was playing with her hair.

"Just thinking," he said.

"About what?" she asked.

"Well we have grandkids from Hailie and Alaina. Stevie is just being Stevie at this point and now we may possibly be having a grandchild from our oldest son, it's jut crazy."

"Marshall, we are going to handle our lives the only way that we know how. One day at a time."

"I know. It's just nuts to think that we have grandkids. I'm Eminem for crying out loud."

"So Eminem isn't supposed to be a grandpa?"

"It's just weird."

He laughed. She just shook her head and yawned. They took a nap before it was determined that Hailie was supposed to be dropping off Cade for Madelyn to babysit. She wanted a date night with Evan. Marshall loved spending time with the grandkids. He just wanted his kids to all be happy.

Hailie dropped Cade off before the kids got home from school. Madelyn relaxed on the couch with the little boy in her arms. Cade was asleep when the kids walked in being loud. Marshall looked at them.

"Hey keep it down before you wake the baby," he said.

"Sorry dad," they said.
