Madelyn got up and got the kids off to school. She was glad that her kids were happier where they were now rather than being miserable in school like they were. Malakai was now beginning to excell in school again. He had made friends and didn't fight about going. The kids were already trying to make plans for the end of the year even though it was only February.

"Mom, do you think dad will let us have a party?" Maverick asked.

"I don't know. You will have to ask him," she said.

"He hates people being at the house."

"Not always. Just talk to him."

The boy frowned as he got out of the car. Madelyn rolled her eyes. He could be so dramatic. She headed home to relax with Marshall. He was home for the day. She walked in the house. He was still in bed. She went to the kitchen to make them breakfast. He got up while she was in the middle of cooking.

"Good morning beautiful," he said.

"Good morning handsome," she replied.

"Kids off to school already?"

"Yeah, we have an empty house."

Marshall raised his eyebrows. She laughed at him.

"Wanna go back to bed?" he asked.

She nodded. They went up to their room. She laughed as he caught her at their bedroom door. He threw her on the bed and moved over her quickly.

He took his time with her and made sure she knew she was still number one in his life. He loved watching her come undone under him. She pulled him to her in a heated kiss. He lay her back on their bed for a second round.

"You are so beautiful, Mads," he said, softly.

"I love you, Marshall," she replied.

"I love you too."

He leaned down to press a kiss to her lips before trailing them along her jaw and down her neck. She closed her eyes just enjoying the feeling of his lips on her body. He reached her breasts and gently bit each nipple making her squirm. He chuckled a bit when she jumped at the first contact.

"You think you're so funny," she said.

"Of course baby," he replied.

He pulled her body flush with his. He groaned as his phone interrupted them. She sighed heavily as he stopped to answer it.

"Hello, hang on, she is right here," he said.

He handed the phone to his wife. She gave him a funny look as she put the phone to her ear.

"Mama," it was Mckynna.

"What's wrong baby?" Madelyn was instantly in mom mode.

"I don't feel good."

"Ok baby, what hurts?"

"My side."

"I'm on my way baby."

Madelyn hung up the phone. Marshall was already dressed. Madelyn dressed quickly and pulled her hair up in a messy bun. They left the house together. Madelyn was a little worried about her daughter. Typically even when Mckynna didn't feel good, she wanted her dad. Mckynna was a daddy's girl thru and thru. They pulled up to the school. Madelyn went inside to get her daughter.

She was worried that it was her period beginning. The school nurse was waiting with the little girl.

"It's not her period, she is running a fever," the nurse said.

Madelyn nodded. Marshall had been on the phone with the doctor's office already as she entered the building.

She signed Mckynna out and headed to the car. The little girl was almost doubled over as they got to the vehicle. Marshall glanced at his daughter. They decided to bypass the doctor and go to the Emergency Room.

"Mama," Mckynna cried.

"I know baby, we are gonna get it figured out," Madelyn said.

Marshall pulled up to the ER. He dropped them at the door and went to park the car. He met up with them inside. The people at the desk recognized him quickly. They got Mckynna back to a room. Marshall looked at his little girl. She looked completely miserable. The doctor came in and checked her over. They sat waiting on CT scans and lab work.

Madelyn called to see if Whitney could pick up her siblings from school since they didn't know what was going on with Mckynna. The little girl had finally fallen asleep thanks to a pain killer. The doctor came back into the room later.

"The scans are showing an infection in her appendix. We are going to have to remove it," the doctor said.

"It came on so quickly," Madelyn said.

The doctor nodded.

"She may have had random pains and ignored them until it burst," the doctor said.

"So it is ruptured?" Marshall asked.

"It's leaking so there is a tear in it somewhere. We are going to have to open her up and remove it. We are also going to flush the area to get rid of all of the infection. She will have to stay for a few days for antibiotics thru the IV and then she will be on oral antibiotics for at least another week after that,"

They both nodded. Marshall looked at his wife. He could see the NICU flashbacks running thru her head and pulled her into his arms. She sighed heavily. They prepared Mckynna for surgery rather quickly. They wanted to get it out to minimize the infections leaking into her body.

The two of them sat in the waiting room waiting on their little girl to come out of surgery. They were giving updates to the family via text message.

"Who is gonna stay with her?" Madelyn asked.

"You are," he said.

"Babe,"

"She wanted you this time Mads. I got the rest of the crew. It's all right."

"I know you're worried too."

"I will come up after they all go to school."

Madelyn nodded. He smiled at her.

"Crazy how quick a day can change huh babe?" he asked.

"Never a dull moment, that's for sure," she chuckled.

"Not with our kids."

She sighed and leaned on his shoulder. He turned his head slightly to kiss her forehead.
