Marshall knocked on the door frame to his son's room. Malakai looked over at him.
"Hey dad," he said glumly.
"What's going on bud?" Marshall asked.
"Noah Michaels being a jerk as usual."
"Doesn't he have an older brother?"
"Jamison."
"Same kid that messed with Maverick?"
Malakai nodded. Marshall sighed heavily. He didn't want to put his kids in a private school but it was looking like his only option. He wasn't sure what to do about it. He looked at his son.
"Would you want to switch schools at this point?" Marshal asked.
"Anything to get away from him," Kai said.
"I will talk to mom. That's probably our best option at this point."
Malakai nodded. He followed his dad down the stairs. His mother hadn't grounded him yet. He was glad that she hadn't given him a punishment yet. Although it made him a bit worried about it.
"Mads," Marshall said.
"Yes," she looked at him.
"I was thinking we should look into that private school for him. I mean we talked about it for the triplets. Why not just move Kai now?"
"I mean if it will help and he stops getting into trouble, I am all for it."
He nodded. He went to find the number to call to schedule a meeting with the school. Malakai was shocked that it was so easy. He sat on the couch watching his mother. She motioned toward a stack of clothes.
"Take them up to your room," she said.
"Mom, are you gonna punish me for today?" he asked.
"Actually, I am not."
"Really?"
"Nope, if this switch in schools keeps you out of trouble then that will be enough for me."
He nodded. He didn't like it when his parents were disappointed in him.
"We meet with them on Monday for a tour of the school and to get more information," Marshall said.
"All right." Madelyn replied.
"Do I get to go?" Malakai asked.
Marshall nodded. He was going to be looking for information for the triplets as well for the following year.
Madelyn left Malakai at home with his father when she went to pick up the others from school. Maverick glanced in the backseat as he climbed in.
"Where's Kai?" he asked.
"At home with dad," she said.
They drove home. The kids ran in the house to greet their dad. Mckynna beat everyone to him. He laughed as she threw her arms around him.
"I missed you too princess," he said.
"Dad, Alaina and Matt are coming over tonight," Maverick said.
"Oh yeah? How do you know?"
"She text me this morning."
"Why didn't you tell me this morning, son?" Madelyn asked.
He shrugged. Alaina and Hailie had both gotten married. Marshall was officially a grandfather. It cracked Madelyn up even though it made her a 44 year old grandmother. Alaina and Matt had just had their second baby. He was adorable. Madelyn loved having the grand babies to spoil. Marshall did as well. He sighed.
"What's wrong old man?" Madelyn chuckled.
"Travelling is exhausting," he said.
"I bet."
They had three grandchildren at this point. Alaina had Ava and Caleb. Hailie had Cade. They were all spoiled rotten by Marshall and Madelyn.
The front door opened and Alaina came in with the infant seat. Two year old Ava came in behind her with Matt.
"Papa," the little girl yelled.
Marshall chuckled. Madelyn shook her head. The kids were all about their grandpa. Marshall loved every minute of it.
"Hey," Alaina smiled.
"Hey," Madelyn replied.
"Ava," Mckynna grinned.
She loved seeing the little girl. She was always around the boys so Ava was a nice break for her. She had been extremely helpful when the little girl was born.
"Mama, can we have tacos for dinner tonight?" Matthew asked.
All of her kids were obsessed with tacos and nachos. She just nodded. Marshall chuckled. He took the baby boy as Alaina passed him over. She had taken him out of his seat.
"How has the adjustment been with this lil man been?" Madelyn asked.
"Not too bad," Alaina said. "Ava has been a huge help actually. We thought she would be jealous but she loves him so much."
Madelyn nodded. She was glad. She watched Marshall hold the little boy close to him and couldn't help but get flashbacks of him with their own kids even though they were all now huge.
"Remember how tiny the triplets were when they were born," Alaina asked.
"They were all that tiny. They all just grew really quickly," Marshall laughed.
Madelyn nodded. She couldn't believe how fast her kids had grown. She looked over at her oldest. Maverick had gone quiet and was just staring off into space.
"What's wrong bud?" she asked.
"Huh?" he looked a bit startled.
"You look upset."
He shrugged his shoulders. He had looked as though something was on his mind since she had picked him up from school.
"What is it bud?" Marshall asked.
Maverick looked at his dad and a weird look crossed his face. Madelyn was concerned for her oldest son.
"Why didn't dad want you to have me back then?" the fifteen-year-old finally cracked and asked.
Madelyn's jaw dropped. Marshall stopped dead in his tracks. Alaina's eyes widened.
