Chapter 4: A Shocking Development

Students littered the halls, all completely asleep. As Lucas ran, there was only one thing on his mind. His younger brother. When he woke up, Jorgia was still asleep, and it seemed as if he was the only one awake. After reaching into his pocket to look at his phone, all that was displayed was a missed call from his brother, Sammy.

"He must've come by the school for some reason. I probably left something at home when I was rushing out of the house this morning."

A warm, turning hot feeling began to manifest in his pocket as he ran. He came to a sudden stop and yanked his phone out of his pocket. It felt as if he had left it out in the sun for an entire afternoon. He tapped the power button on the side and the screen was unnaturally, almost blindingly bright.

"W-What the heck happened to my phone," asked Lucas as he began to examine it.

"That's weird, I could've sworn that the battery was low when I woke up but now it's at 100%. Maybe it was a glitch or something, but that doesn't explain why it's so hot."

As he held the phone, his arm hair also began to stand up perfectly straight.

"The hair on my arm is beginning to stand up too. Weird. Oh! I know what this is; Static electricity."

"We learned about this recently in class, but it just doesn't appear out of nowhere.... Unless it came...from me?" he wondered as he began to turn a corner down the hallway. Suddenly, a kid not much older than himself had bumped into him. He had black ripped-up jeans and an oversized leather jacket that bore the symbol of a gang. His white t-shirt appeared to be heavily worn as if he only had one or two pairs. Scars adorned his face as his shoulder-length black straight hair looked as if he had just woken up.

"Hey, watch it!" shouted the kid as he pushed Lucas off him.

"Oh-uh, I-I'm sorry I didn't know other people were waking up too."

"Wait a second, does... he go here?" wondered Lucas.

He had never seen this kid in school before and if someone was in that gang, there's no way they'd even be allowed to step foot in the school.

"Jeez, schools are the worst and I really wish I didn't have to come here, but after that heist debacle, the boss was insistent that I check up on the situation."

"B-Boss?" asked Lucas.

"Looks like everyone is asleep though, which will make this next part much easier," said the boy as he slowly put his hand on a locker. To Lucas' amazement, the metal locker began to slowly melt as if it was turning into a paste.

"I didn't think there were any others besides us in this shithole city. That funky electricity on your arms is a clear indication; you ain't normal, kid."

"If I just ignore you, there's a chance you'll end up causing trouble for us in the future and the boss would kill me if word got out there were other users in the city we didn't know about."

The boy swung his arm with a swift movement and clocked Lucas in the jaw with makeshift brass knuckles.

"AGHH!!"

"It h-hurts so much." thought Lucas. Who was this kid and why did he suddenly attack him?

"Since this is the end for you, I don't mind telling you about my stand. It's called Lake Zurich Anything that I, Kazon, touch that is metallic, I can reshape. Your eyes didn't deceive you; these knuckles are straight from that locker that I melted."

Draping down his shoulders and arms were gray, small metallic jellyfish. They pulsated and the tips of their tentacles were lime green.

"S-Stand?" thought Lucas. He had never seen anything like this before, but he had to do something quickly, or else this kid really was going to kill him. He began to shuffle backward on the ground, too paralyzed by fear to get up. But as he began to move, he noticed the hair on his arms began to stand up again.
