"Drew?" Cass gave me a look as he wagged his perfectly sculpted eyebrows at me as he whistled. Drew's head shot up as Cass grinned, waved as I turned red, ready to bolt to the back.

"Sorry sugar but I highly doubt that he swings that way," I said as swept by as I patted his cheek.

"A boy can dream," he said staring off into space, hope shining in his brown eyes. I laugh at his comment grabbing the pad heading to my side of the diner, ready to get this day over with for like the fifth time today.

"Hey I am Phoebe and I'll be taking care of y'all today," I said plastering on a fake smile while I wrote down what the couple of kids from a grade below wanted to drink.

Making rounds I repeated the same phrase over again, serving elderly couples, students, and teachers. And one particular person who seemed to be following me or maybe it was the lunch crowd.

"Hello again I'm Phoebe and I'll be taking care of you, want can I get you to drink?" I asked mostly fake enthusiasm.

"Water will be fine, Phoebe." he said raking his hand through is already messed up hair, and damn he knew he looked good.

I wrote down his order and a few others not really thinking as I did it, finally the crowd died down leaving only a few teachers who had fifth period free, meaning I could go home.

I threw the apron on the hook, told my aunt I was leaving and I headed to my car. The dark clouds were even darker than before.

My precious precious car wouldn't start, I ran back into the diner and told my aunt I was hoofing it home.

"Okay be careful, no more fights!" She called and went back to work.

As soon as I was halfway down the down the block and I guess that day was just my day, not.

The rain that started to pour down around me was freezing and I literally screamed up at the sky swinging my fist. I wanted nothing more to break down and bawl my eyes out.

I heard a car horn honk behind me and I threw up my two middle fingers really not in the mood to deal with anyone's shit.

"Now Phoebe, is that anyway to treat someone who is planning on offering you a ride?" A voice questioned as they pulled to a stop in the middle of the road not as if it were busy.

I looked up at the sky again and asked
"Really? You have seriously got to be kidding me?"

"Whoah what did The Big Guy do to piss you off?" The voice from the car across the passenger seat asked.

"Umm, well where do you want me to start? Let's see, I woke up late, my first two classes include math and science, oh and my best friend and my boyfriend slept together, for what seems like a while no-"

"Hold up you're telling me that you best friend and your boyfriend slept together?"

"Yes, please do not interrupt me when ranting," he nodded, "Thank you. Now were was I-oh my precious little baby wouldn't start, and on top of all this it's pouring out and I'm walking home, also I will probably die of pneumonia which would really be the icing on the cake."

"Sorry, Phoebs I didn't realize you've had such a terrible day, let me give you a ride."

I am not like any other girl in any of the books I've read, you know the ones were they refuse to get into the car of the stranger they just met. Yeah I basically told logic to shove it.

I pulled the handle of the newest Camero model and slid into the warm leather seat.

"Thank you," I offered Drew with a smile as we sped down the wet road.
He smirked a smirk that made me want to take that "thank you" I just uttered and shove is so far up his a-

"So Phoebe I really do not want to come off as creepy but I have no clue where you live." he said as he shifted gears.

"It's not creepy you're just new, I live at the end of the street," My house was a straight shot from the diner only a few blocks away from both school and the diner.

He started laughing as we pulled into the driveway right next to mine.

"Ummm that's my house," I said pointing at the two story house looking into my window.

"Well I guess we are neighbors!" He said way too enthusiastically.
