'I'm to hot, hot damn,
Call a police and a fireman,
I'm to ho-'

I cut off my ringtone, picking up my phone, not bothering to read the screen to see the caller ID. Aunt Judy didn't like it when I was home alone phone less so she gave it back, so much for a punishment.

"Hello?" I asked my voice still full of tiredness, I was ready to hang up and just fall back into my blissful sleep.

"Good morning Phoebe." the voice said chirpily on the other end.

"How in God's green land did you manage to get my number?" I half growled as I pulled my blankets up
higher.

"Just told someone I was interested in a job and they gave me your number, then told me to talk to you." Drew said as I was jerked out of my half sleep.

"Uh huh," I mumbled back, drooling all over my phone and pillow.

"Phoebe did you listen to a word I just said?"

"Nope," I said popping the p as I rolled over and looked at my alarm clock which read, 7:04 a.m., way too day early in the morning for me to function.

"Why the hell are you up this early on a Friday? Or any day?" I asked closing my eyes and trying to fall back asleep.

"Sorry Phoebs but it's Thursday not Friday and I'm up at six working out anyway. So about this job you think you can get me one?"

"Oh you were serious I thought you called just to hear my angelic voice if you want this job swing by the diner and talk to Judy tell her I put in a good word for you." I really was just telling him all of that so he would get off of the phone so I could go back to my blissful dreams.

"You really think I can get a job?" He asked.

"Drew, I've not even known you for twenty-four hours, of course I think you can."

"I literally heard you roll your eyes while saying that."

"Umm no actually my eyes are closed because you know I have a suspension and that means I can sleep. So goodbye Drew." I said and then hung up.

As soon as I was about to drift off I was jerked awake by the awful noise of music.

I was out of bed and down the stairs faster than I'd ever been. I threw open the front door and marched over to Drew's house, climbing his stairs I banged furiously on the front door.

"Drew, Drew I swear if you do not open this door I will kick it open and then I will kick your as-" I was cut off, my fist rose in the air ready to bang the door down. Drew opened the door shirtless, I kept my eyes trained on his face as I chewed his ass out,

"You do realize some of us need sleep and are not insomniacs like you, I can not function properly without sleep and if you keep waking me up we are going to have a huge problem, buddy. Got it?"

Instead of the 'Yes ma'am' or the 'Yes Phoebe' I was expecting I got a smirk and then he busted out laughing.

"Oh Phoebe," he said between laughs, "You..you look..." He said trailing off.

"Umm I think the words you were looking for were along the lines of, damn, sexy, and beautiful." I stated as I twirled around displaying what he wasn't getting.

"You do realize you are wearing a crewneck with a whale on it and matching shorts right?"

"Hell yeah whales are my bestie." I said noting that he had lost his pajama pants during the night and was only wearing plaid boxers.

"And the slippers?" He questioned to my bare feet.

"Well they don't make them in whales trust me I looked." I said staring out at him through my glasses I only wore at night and when I was lazy.

"The glasses are just the icing on the cake." he commented while I kicked him in the shin.

"What the hell was that for?" He asked when he landed on his ass.

"Keeping me up, waking me up, and for making fun of me." I said while crossing my arms over my chest.

"I like you Phoebe, your feisty."

"Screw you, Drew."

"Well if you really wan-" he cut himself off when he noticed me walking away from him by the time he was caught up I was already reaching for my doorknob.

"Look Phoebe I'm sor-"

"No Drew you look here, you," I said while poking his chest, "Are a complete stranger I have no clue who you are. Hey, you could be an ax murderer for all I know."

"Phoebe I'm truly hurt that you do not remember me I only moved away ten years ago." he said a hand over his heart.

"No." I simply said as I opened the door trying to shove him out of the way when he stood in the doorway.

"No? No? That's all you have to say?"

"Yes that's all I have to say because you cannot be my best friend who just upped and left me with no goodbye. And even if you really were word would've been out that you're back."

"Phoebe it was out yesterday but you weren't at school so you didn't know anything."

"I worked lunch yesterday." I stated, "Hell I even served you lunch."

"I skipped until fifth." We had lunch at the beginning of the period being juniors and all.

"I know I've changed in appearance but not that much, I've just gotten hotter." he said with a smirk and I knew that this was my best friend I had lost over ten years ago. I guess you really do gain some and lose some. I lost Drew, gained Kat, lost Kat, and gained back Drew.

"So why'd you leave?" I questioned.

"Can't tell yet."

"Where'd you go?"

"Can't tell you that either, yet."

"When will you tell me?"

"When I know I can."

"Can I trust you?"

"Yes Phoebe, I'm sorry for leaving you, you have no idea how much I missed you."

"Okay." I said and he wrapped me in an embrace making me never ever want to let go.
