POV: Drew Evans

"Omg, omg, Judy! Drew!" Cassius yelled from the front of the diner. I sprinted to the front of the diner, top speed leaning down to Phoebe who was lying on the ground her dark long hair pooling around her head as the costumers of hers freaked out.

"Sh-sh-she just collapsed w-w-we don't know h-how it happened." The woman stuttered looking around and tears fell from her eyes.

"It's fine y'all head home." Judy my new boss called from the back coming out with a phone pressed to her ear. The customers left in a hurry wanting to get the hell out of dodge.

Judy bent down feeling for a pulse and successfully found one. I knew what was happening but the others didn't have a clue.

"Drew I'm heading to the hospital to fill out paperwork will you stay with her?" She asked pointing down to Phoebe.

"Yeah," I said and nodded my head as she a Cassius filed out of the diner. You might be asking what sane person would leave their niece in the care of a stranger that would be Judy.

I took Phoebe's hand in my own tracing my thumb over a scar on her soft warm hand, she looked so peaceful when she was sleeping. Not like the fierce, loyal, and badass Phoebe I grew up with.

'She was gorgeous with green eyes that had gold surrounding the pupils and dark hair that cas-'
Stop I told myself, you barely know this girl, just because she's hot doesn't mean she isn't a serial killer or an axe murderer.

I pulled my hand from hers and ran it through my hair, missing my best friend from childhood who kicked my ass at everything.

The wailing of the sirens bit through the air as I stood up and grabbed myself some coffee ready for her to wake up.

"Is this Phoebe?" A paramedic asked.

'No it's fucking Waldo.' is what I wanted to say but instead I went for a
"Yes."

"Okay boys load her up." They took her out into the pouring rain and loaded her into the ambulance and I followed close behind not bothering to lock the diner.

"Family?" the paramedic who spoke earlier asked. I went ahead and lied to the bastard.

"Yup," I answered popping the 'p'.

I sat down on the bench and grabbed Phoebe's hand as the paramedic shot me confused looks. Instead of flipping him off like I wanted I just ignored him and traced my thumb over the same scar as earlier.

We arrived at the hospital in about five minutes since it was only about six miles away in a slightly larger town.

"Call your mother and tell her we are here." the paramedic order but I didn't have to since Judy and Cass were at our sides the moment we walked in.

We were all soaking went from the rain and Judy shot the paramedic a dirty look and she checked over her niece.

Cass and I were left standing in the hallway, me feeling as shitty as he looked. Which I would never ever tell him because he is gay and would freak.

We settled into the waiting room and waited and waited and eventually we both fell asleep.

*************************************

Sunshine streaming through the blinds awoke me. I opened my eyes and was staring face to face with Cass.

"I came to tell you that Phoebe is awake and she's being released and she's fine."

"What, what time is it?"

"Seven in the morning. Judy says you can head home."

I nodded and made my way to my feet.

"Can I see her?" I croaked out my voice scratchy.

Cass shook his head and handed me a cup of coffee while he bent down to my ear.

"Listen up Drew, I know what you are and if you dare even dare to talk to her or make a move on her I will kill you." He stood up and left walking away with swagger possessing his step.

I clenched my hands into fist ready to hit something. Cassius was not about to stop me from seeing HER. I would take her, even if I died trying.
