*Unedited*
Today was a good day. Was a good day. Was. Everything was fine and dandy until... well, let's start from the beginning shall we?
All you sinners stand up, sing hallelujah. Show praise with your body stand up, sing hallelujah. If you can't stop shaking-
"Oh, shut it!" I scream at my alarm clock. "Can't you see I'm trying to sleep?"
Since it didn't shut up, I groan, get up, and turn it off myself.
Just as I am about to get into bed again, the smell of waffles and bacon drift into my nose. "Ha, yeah!" I shout. I love waffles. So much.
I slip my glasses on and run downstairs. "Oh my gosh, mom, did you make a buffet or something?"
"Nope, just your favorite breakfast," she smiles at me.
"Mm, looks so good."
An unknown emotion flashes momentarily through her eyes. Strange, but I ignore it.
I quickly eat my food and make small talk with my mom, than I decide to get ready for school. Sigh.
I go upstairs and do my everyday thing, of course when I see Asa walk outside to drive us to school, I'm nowhere near ready. I don't bother with makeup and instead of straightening my hair, I throw it up in a bun and slip on my knock-off vans.
"Hey," I smile and peck his cheek before throwing my bag in the backseat. "How's it doing?"
"I'm so tired," Asa laughs. "You?"
I shrug. "Pretty good so far. Mom made waffles," I look out the window at the street that was once unfamiliar and scary, but what is now my home. I smile to myself.
"You and those waffles," Asa laughs and shakes his head.
I laugh as well. "What! I love waffles."
He grabs my hand over the center console and I blush but smile.
He's playing some strange annoying techno music quietly through the speakers, but I tolerate it until we arrive at school.
We part ways and I meet Gemma at my locker, where she always waits for me in the morning. "Hey Gemma, how's it doin?" I smile.
"Doin' well," she mimics. "I finally got that element science project thing done."
"Oh my god, I hear that project is death." I laugh.
"It was," Gemma sighs. "Anyway, how was your morning?"
"Radical, my mom made waffles and bacon."
Gemma laughs softly and mutters something about American slang as I close my locker. "Speaking of science. Got to go. See you in... gym? Yeah, gym."
I say goodbye to the girl I bumped into in the hallway on the first day of school, the girl I would now take a bullet for.
I walk down the hall, excusing my self for bumping into people. After being in this school for almost a year, you'd think I'd get more comfortable around these people. Nope. I still get scared talking to the secretary.
I walk into science and take my seat next to Asa. "We meet again," I laugh. Asa laughs a bit so and starts playing with my fingers.
After a few minutes, the lights turn off. Class is starting. The projector flips on to our warm up and Mrs. Lindia passes out our tests from last week.
