It's been a full two months since I found out my parents weren't married. I asked my dad about it, my mom doesn't know that I know yet.
"Did you tell your mom yet?" Asa asks through the phone.
"No," I sigh. "How can I tell her? She'll found out that I've been talking to my dad." my voice cracks. I've been crying way to much lately, I wish I could stop. I'm just so confused and angry.
"Hey, why don't we go see movie or something? Get your mind off things."
I nod though he can't see me. "Yeah, okay. I'll look up times for The Fault in our Stars?" I squeal.
"Oh, god no!"
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"No."
"I said yes!" Asa screams. Works every time! "Oh man, really Francesca?" I laugh at my cleverness and we bid our goodbyes as I hang up the phone.
I tell him the next screening time, 3:30. It was currently quarter to three... I guess that was enough time. I out on a pair of jeans and a blue pullover that read Okay? Okay. Yes, I was going to be that person. I put on makeup, straightened my hair, then slid on my white Vans. I checked the time now, 3:04. The theater is only five minutes away, and it was never crowded so I decided I'd have time to brush my teeth once more today.
"Mom!" I yell as I run down the stairs. "Mom!" I screech. I sigh when she doesn't answer and make my way to the kitchen so I can grab a 20 from our rainy day money jar. There's a note on the fridge.
Francesca,
Hi sweetie! So, you might be wondering where I am. I'm on a date! Can you believe it? His name is Nick. I heard you on the phone with Ace when I was about to leave so I didn't bother intruding. Well, I better go! I'll be home late so goodnight, I love you!
Xoxo -Mommy
I smiled at the thought of my mom on a date then threw out the note. I rung up Asa and he came over. Oh yeah, did I mention I got my licence? Asa did to, but I wanted to drive.
When we got inside the small theater, there wasn't anybody in the lobby but us.
"Two tickets to Fault in our Starts please," Asa tells the lady.
"That will be $9 dollars."
A/N: I don't normally do this in the middle of a story, but I don't know how to count British money. Sorry!
I hand Asa my share of the money, but he wont let me give it to him.
"I'll pay. It's fine."
I sigh, I never win this fight with Asa.
I even try to pay for my ICEE, he still won't let my give the lady only $2!
"Ready to cry, Ace?"
"Ha! I'm not gonna cry."
But he did. Not much, but he did cry. By the time the movie ended, I was still sobbing. Asa had to carry me out of the theater. I actually let him drive me home because I was still being Little Miss Water Works after an hour of Asa trying to calm me down. I fell asleep on the ride home.
I woke up to a gentle sway, Asa was carrying me. He put me on the bed and took off my shoes, then placing me under the covers.
"Goodnight," he whispers, kissing my forehead.
