I'm very proud for myself, I haven't cried at all since Asa left; it's been four months, too. Great, only four more until he comes back. I mean, why would I cry? We only dated for a few weeks. I didn't even love him... right?

I sigh as I push my headband through my hair then slip on my beat up, knock off vans.

"Are we going to the cinemas today after school?" Gemma asks as I get into her car. Much better than my mom driving me.

"Yeah."

---

As I'm pulling the gym tee shirt over my head, Payton begins to walk over to me.

I glare and put my hair up into a ponytail. "Can I help you, Payton?"

"Okay, first, your little friend Gemma? She's bloody scary."

"Listen, of you're here to talk trash about my best friend--" I slam my locker shut

"I'm not. I'm here... um, to say... sorry, I suppose." She stumbles over the word sorry.

I scoff and cross my arms. "For what?"

"Asa... Asa, he didn't kiss me. He was there with his grandmother, and she got up to go to the washroom and I slipped into his booth and I kissed him. I'm sorry, truly sorry."

Yeah, well Payton Burgioues does not say sorry. "Did Asa make you say this?"

"No, but Asa's been talking to Gemma, he really misses you."

I'm not really sure what to believe, I just bite my cheek and nod. "Thank you, Payton, for apologizing."

"No problem," I swear I see a smile just about to maybe form, then old Payton returns. "Just don't mention it to anyone, got it?"

"My best friends don't count," I smirk.

Payton grimaces and walks away in her wedged hightop sneakers. How much attention can one girl want?

---

After school I changed into a plaid red flannel, skinny jeans, and green hightops. My hair fell in two braids on my shoulders.

I got a text, Gemma is probably here.

I pick up my phone and I do have a text, but it's from Asa. Sighing, I turn off my lock screen.

---

After the movie, I decided I wanted to see more. "Do you want to movie hop?"

"Excuse me?" Gemma laughs.

"Come on," I grab her hand and run back to the theaters. "IF I STAY!" I shout. Gemma shushes me and I laugh. "I've been dying to see this."

"I still don't feel comfortable doing this!" Gemma whines.

"Shh!"

We got in at the previews, perfect timing!

It's gonna get deep and depressing in this mind of mine.

Life is so precious, we only have one. It can get taken away from us like that. You cannot hold grudges, you cannot have any regrets.

The tears begin to form and I make my way out of the theater; thank god I have the aisle seat.

I whip my phone out of my back pocket and my finger hovers over the screen, should I...? Yes.

No grudges, no regrets.

I hit the button.

"Francesca? Are you okay."

No.
