Quick disclaimer: I AM AMERICAN!
*UNEDITED*
"Love," I try out. "Loooooove. LOVE! Loove."
It's such a weird word. I try to make some sense and happiness out of it by trying the strange word out, but its just so... strange. I hop down the stairs sounding the word out, writing it in my school notebooks, repeat it over and over in my mind. It's just a crazy word.
"You sound like that pug on the internet," Gemma laughs as we sit on my bed, not really doing anything. "You know, woof woof, I wurv, lurv lurv ooh! Woof."
I roll my eyes and laugh with her as well.
"Don't you find it weird that you and Asa can just look into eachothers bedrooms?"
"Yeah," I agree. "Sometimes its helpful, though."
Gemma looks taken aback, then my eyes widen before I playfully slap her arm. "Not like that, you perv!"
"Alright, alright! Just... tell me the story again!"
I go into detail once more and tell Gemma about yesterday.
"It's just so cute! Oh, now you've gotten me in a giddy mood! Let's go see a cute movie!"
"Okay!" I squeal.
We ended up seeing Bridge to Terebithia at a theatre that plays old movies. I cried for two hours afterword. What can I say, I'm an emotional human being.
"How do you have a boyfriend, and not me? Goodness, your emotional," Gemma laughs.
"I, I..." I sputter, choking on a son. "I can s-set you u-up."
"Remind me never to watch Titanic with you."
"I WANT TO WATCH TITANIC!" I scream.
"Oh, God no. You can do that with Asa."
I playfully pout.
Gemma drives me back home, it's already midnight and her aunt is visiting from the Netherlands. That girl has A LOT of family. Like... a lot.
"Aw," my mom coos when I walk through the door, "sad movie?"
I nod and she pulls me in for a hug. "Mommy?"
"Yeah?"
"I want to watch Titanic."
She rolls her eyes, a smile on her face. "Go to bed, silly."
"Can I watch Titanic?"
"No, Francesca," she laughs. "You'll keep me up with sobs. I'm exhausted. Go to bed."
I nod then drag myself upstairs.
In my room, I notice that there is some light peaking through Asa's closed blinds. I call him up.
"Francesca?"
"Hey, Asa?" I murmur.
"Yeah?"
"Wanna go to the movies tomorrow?"
"Yeah, totally. What's out."
"We can go to the theater that plays the old movies? We can watch Titanic."
"Sure, call me when you wake up."
"Goodnight, Asa," I murmur.
"Goodnight, sleepyhead."
I hang up the phone and nuzzle under my covers.
---
The next morning, I (surprisingly) wake up at nine thirty. Of course I sit on my phone until ten, then I decide to make something out of my day.
Oh yeah!
I grab my phone once more than dial Asa's number.
"Hello?"
"TITANIC!"
I hear him laugh then smile to myself. He has such a cute laugh.
"Alright. What time, then?"
"Um... well I just woke up like an hour ago so I have no idea when I'll be ready. Should I call you after?"
He laughs again.
"Yeah."
"Okay, I'm going to go get ready. Bye!"
I hang up than jump in the shower. After I slip on my outfit for the day, I run downstairs and fishtail my hair into pigtails.
"I'm going out with Ace, mommy," I say, shoving a protein bar down my throat.
"Alright. Need money?"
I shake my head as I grab my wallet off the table than run back upstairs.
"I'm ready nowish," I tell Asa, the phone between my ear and a toothbrush in my mouth.
"Okay, want me pick up up?"
"Give me one sec."
I spit out my toothpaste and shove on a pair of brand new white knockoff converse. Knockoff's are my everything.
I wait downstairs for Asa, and once he gets here (which obviously doesn't take long) I hop in his car (did I mention he got his license?)
"Hey," I smile and peck his lips.
"Hey, where is this place anyway?"
"A few miles away, on Brunswick Place."
---
Biggest. Mistake. Of. My. Life.
"WHY!" I sobbed. "WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN!"
"You wanted to see the movie, Francesca," he laughs, wrapping his arm around me. I lean my head on his shoulder.
"But... i-it's j-just not f-fair!" I cry. A headache begins to take over and I cup my hand overt mouth, but my body shakes with sobs. Asa hugs me until I calm down then we head back to the car.
"Hand me the aux cord?"
He playfully rolls his eyes but hands it to me anyway.
I just put Avril Lavigne on shuffle. After a few songs, 'I Love You' comes on and I can't help but smile. Sometime during the song, Asa grabs my hand and I try to hide my smile, but I just can't. I look at him and peck his freckle-filled cheek.
"I'm breaking a rule here," I whisper. "After Ryan, I promised I'd never love again. You've really changed me, Ace."
He squeezes my hand tighter and I turn my head to look at him.
"Are you saying you love me?" he smirks, directing his away from the road.
I smile a bit. "I think I might be."
Looking at his face makes me so giddy that I'm thrown into a fit of giggles.
"Well, I definitely love you and that giggle."
Which makes me laugh even more.
