INTO CRAZY TOWN

It was simple really. I guess because of his age, he was allowed to go with whom ever he wanted. He had to sign a paper, and check out of the institution but aside from that it went smoothly. One nurse eyed me like a crazy girl, but I looked the other way.

Aspen oh! Aden was quiet in the car. It took a bit to convince him to come with me, but his curiosity got the best of him. I knew if I kept dangling little hints in front of him using just a smidgen of my real voice I'd have him. That fact bothered me, for some reason.

The past couple years, I've used my voice for everything. It had this hypnotizing quality that made it almost impossible to resist.

I got free meals, vehicles, and out of speeding tickets with just a fluttering eyelash and a few sweet words. Not to mention a couple grand a week singing in a club called Forever Young. It wouldn't be that much on just a normal voice, but the little power gave me the big bucks. I earned that living honestly, it just helped with the bills.

Needless to say, I was dropped here alone. I don't get lonely, I don't. I have my fish! Wait, Dory died last week. Might have something to do with forgetting to change the water for a few months. Fragile creatures, fish are.

Anyway, I pulled into the single garage and killed the engine. My car was an older one, still ran good though. I bought her off of Craigslist and I had to say, she was a beauty.

My home was a little single condo. It had everything I needed, and was in my name. I bought it after about seven or eight weeks of singing and saving. How I managed to survive while working for it, I still don't want to say, yuck!

Anyway, the bills got paid every month, the money set aside every week to pay. I set enough aside to pay for the whole month every week, my savings was huge, let's just say that.

"Now will you explain?" He asked.

"Come on inside." I whispered, using a little bit of my own power.

"Kenna, quit stalling."

"Come on."

I led him into the house, moving aside some furniture and wrappers so he would t step on anything. He landed in the couch and sank further into it.

"Now explain." I sighed where to start?

"We met, quite a while ago really." He scoffed.

"Yeah I gathered that."

"Back then, you were Aspen. We weren't normal people, by today's standard."

"I'm blind and partially deaf, I know."

"No, you weren't." I whispered.

"We lived somewhere else. My parents arranged a marriage between Mason and me. You stepped forward on my behalf, because Id told you about my lack of willingness to participate in the union." I studied his has his brow furrowed.

"The Elders wanted me to choose between duty to my family and what I really wanted."

He nodded, his head quirked to the side listening.

"I couldn't choose, and this is how it ended."

"That explains nothing." He muttered harshly.

"Do you believe in Gods-"

"He doesn't exist. There is nothing out there other than our own desires." He said, his voice raising.

"Yeah, ok." I whispered. Ok.

"How about the supernatural?"

"What about it?" He demanded. I bit my lip on the way his words seemed to be but out. As if talking to

me caused pain.

"Do you believe?"

"I don't believe nor do I disbelieve it. There is no proof."

"That's were your wrong." I laughed quietly.

"How so?" His eyebrow raised. That was kind of cute, not gunna lie.

"Then WE wouldn't be here."

"And that means what exactly?" He asked.

"We aren't just human, Aspen." I saw his face harden and about slapped myself. "Sorry, Aden."

"Great, I left with the girl from the Loony Bin. Escape from Hell right into Crazytown Mississtrippy!"
