"How do you know about Aspen?" I demanded.
She rolled onto her stomach and glared at me.
"I'm not stupid?"
I took one leadened step forward. "How do you know Aspen?"
"Aden is blind." She said hotly. "But Aspen is asleep. When Aden is under stress or scared Aspen will take over." She shivered. "Oh, and take over he does."
I felt my stomach pitch. I knew obsessed when I saw it. This girl was too far gone.
"Aden has a split personality disorder." She continued.
I blinked. "You still want him knowing that?"
"I love him. Of course I want him."
"Casey get the fuck off her!" Felix shouted. I bent her wrist, bordering on breaking it as she stilled.
"I thought I recognized that voice." Aden muttered. He turned his face toward me and distracted me just enough to allow Casey to slam a rather pointy elbow into my face.
Her eyes lit up when she caught sight of him, making my blood heat in anger. "Aden, baby!"
I roughly pulled myself away from her and then quickly calmed down. I couldn't use my . . . I hadn't focused on my power and nothing had happened. A thrill of alarm filled me as I counted the months.
I had lost count. Somehow I'd lost a few months in time. I had half a year. Only six months to make a blind and bitter man fall in love with me. This seemed a little too difficult.
"Casey, what are you doing here?"
"I'm here to see Zeus and now my A-kins." Aden grimaced.
"Do not call me that again." He growled. I rolled my eyes. God to human he still hates stupid nicknames.
"Oh, baby you know you like it." She whispered. Her arms looped around his neck and pulled him off balance. The sound of her lips closing around his neck made my blood boil. "You know you want me. You know you need me, can't live without me."
She lifted her leg against the front of his body, then pulled back in shock. I laughed at her expression. "What the hell?"
"Get off me." He growled, and shoved her away. "Kenna, get your lazy ass over here!" My grin fell away as soon as he snarled at me. I stomped my foot and crossed my arms like a child.
"Make me!" I snapped.
"I would but I don't know where the hell you are. Now come here already!" He snapped. I slowly stepped toward him, and then his arm snaked around me pulling me against him as his head dipped to my open mouth as I gasped in surprise.
My eyes closed immediately after contact, and our lips moved together in sync. I pulled his lower lip between my own and bit it lightly causing a frustrated moan to escape his throat as he ripped away and forced his tongue within my mouth. I soon became lightheaded from the little zaps from Aden's stupid habit of dragging his feet but I didn't care. I ran my tongue over his fought for dominance of my own mouth. Neither of us were willing to relent, but both of us needed air. He pulled away first, stealing another sweet peck from my gasping lips before turning a self righteous grin on Casey.
"I want her. Not you. I am with her. Not you. I need her. Not you. Would you please stop your homicidal bullshit and just leave a poor blind man alone?!" Aden snapped at her. I studied her as my head stopped it's spinning. These words met my ears and I wondered briefly if Ihad already fallen for him, or if I could sink any lower.
Casey looked shocked, but I didn't miss the murderous glare she gave me. She lifted her hand and drew a line over her throat that only I could see. I laughed. "Good luck." I told her, unembarrassed by my outburst.
"What?" Aden asked me, his hand on my shoulder as he towered over me.
"Oh, nothing to worry about. I doubt anything will come of it." I said with a pointed glare as Casey.
"So, Kenna. How did you survive the explosion?" She smirked. "A cell phone bomb was it?"
I refused to glare at her, but I definitely noticed my hatred increased. "I wasn't in the house. Aden was."
Her smile faltered. "Aden?"
"No I wasn't. I would be dead right now if I had been." Aden told me, his hand on my shoulder tightening.
"Yes, Aden. You almost killed the wrong person. Thankfully it wasn't serious or I'd have lost him. Did you even think about that?"
"Casey, I think it's time for you to leave." Felix said, his voice beyond tight. It was quick ordeal of Felix shoving her out, and then slamming the door.
"This isn't over!" She screamed before I heard her footsteps leave.
"So, incest?" Felix asked. I gulped before I shook my head. No.
"Care to explain?" He demanded. I opened my mouth, but Aden answered for me.
"I was lost to the system when I was very young. I couldn't leave on my own because of my disability. Kenna has been searching for me, but the only way I could leave with her was if she had a claim on me by blood. She is my 'sister' so she didn't have to fight for custody like a freaking divorced parent."
"Oh, so I guess our date has been cancelled?" Felix asked me, just the tiniest bit of hope in his voice. Just enough. Aden growled menacingly.
"Ok, I get it. Retract the claws tiger, she's all yours." He sighed before rubbing his neck. "Look, that doesn't change our deal. Now that I know my dumbass sister did it, I can either report it to the police, or fix it brand new like nothing happened."
"Let her rot in jail for all I care." Aden spat before plopping down on the sofa.
"I don't really want to do that, actually. She's a major screw up, but she's my sister still."
I pursed my lips as I thought this over. "Keep her away from us? Fix it brand new, no charge and I'll let it slide she tried to kill me."
Is that such a smart idea? My mother's voice asked in my mind. I nodded. "You have yourself a deal." Felix said before he walked away from us with a slightly disgusted facial expression.
I shrugged before I turned around to face Aden. He scoffed.
"I can hear your heart from here. That wasn't a real kiss, stupid. I just don't want her sniffing around me anymore. I;m not a chew toy. Don't get your hopes up, Kenna. It meant nothing." He flipped on the TV and suddenly ear blasting music came on.
I stared at him for a moment before I burst out in a slightly hysterical laugh. The realization hit me hard. I really did have a long way to go. And another thing?
I, a Love Goddess, just got played by my best friend. Oh damn did that hurt.
